Project Summary

Healthy Eating, Active Living was an Erasmus+ project through which we carried out educational activities at an international level in collaboration with partner schools (primary and secondary levels) from Romania, Turkey, Poland, Italy, Spain and Greece. We agreed to work on an intercultural project who’s main aim was to stimulate our pupils school succes and increase our educational services quality by providing education for a healthy lifestyle to our pupils in an interdisciplinary way. We identified our project objectives as a result of analyses made by all participant schools and we met on the Etwinning forum looking for a project to fulfill our objectives. We addressed Key competences as defined by the European Comission Lifelong Learning Programme and we have chosen to integrate our project activities in many curricular subjects like sports, foreign language, ICT, arts classes.
Our project main target groups were pupils and teachers together with indirect beneficiaries of the project activities (parents, local officials, teachers from other schools, sports clubs and libraries as local partners)
We have planned 6 Transnational Project Meetings for planning and organization, exchanging ideas about the ongoing project, preventing difficulties, organizing teachers training session, preparing and evaluating the pupils’ exchanges. A total number of 15 mobilities were planned for transnational project meetings.
We have planned a joint staff training event in Turkey ( Oct 2016) in which 4 teachers of each partner participated. For security reasons, because of the military coup from july 2016 in Turkey we cancelled the staff training in Turkey and we decided all together to organize it instead in Greece in november 2017.
We have also planned a pupils exchange once a year (in Italy, May 2017- in Spain, May 2018 ). Each school involved 7 pupils and 2 accompanying teachers in each of the pupils exchanges. We worked in an interdisciplinary and multicultural framework provided by the international collaboration between us either during activities we planned at school level either during project meetings, pupils exchanges or joint staff training event. Our pupils were involved in research on traditional food receipes and traditional childhood games, they learned and collaborated on the project web site Learning Platform, facebook group, they played traditional games, they created the project logo, the Games dictionary and they participated to an experiment based on adopting a healthy lifestyle provided by the education through project activities (BMI experiment).
As a result of our project implementation, we enhanced our pupils’ awareness for a healthy lifestyle, their cultural knowledge was enriched, they developed social, ICT and foreign language competences which concluded with the achievement of our general project objectives of increasing pupils’ school results and preventing early school leaving.Teachers learned new teaching methods, they collaborated and exchanged good practice examples on education for health and projects related, they enhanced social, organizational, ICT and foreign language skills.
Our project products were made by collaboration between partner schools and were the expression of both, pupils and teachers’contribution which were actively involved in all of the project phases and activities planned.
We extended our project impact towards other local partners such as parents, sports clubs, other schools and educational authorities and libraries and we transformed our schools into providers of non formal education for a large category of stakeholders.
As a result of our project, we transfered our results to other institutions, mainly schools which will use our project products such as “Europe’s taste receipes” brochure, “Europe’s games” brochure and the curriculum programme “HEAL” which were shared on a variety of channels (printed, project web site www.erasmus-heal.eu, facebook group, teachers’ magazines) during the dissemination process.
We will continue our collaboration after the project end and we will keep contact via project web site Learning Platform and facebook group continuing to update it with our new experiences and activities on the project theme.
