Project Summary

The HOLCRA project has 3 main branches as objectives:
– EUROPEAN: know and work on the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights, the UNESCO cultural heritage, that students feel like EU citizens and recognize cultural diversity as a link of the shared union, commitment and civic participation.
– SCHOOL: learn and apply new methodologies (teaching strategies at practice, learning and service, and gamification), the inclusion of students with needs, create transversal activities between subjects, including activities in the curriculum, make use of competencies, create links between teachers, students and centers schoolchildren from partner countries, favor the relationship of the center with its educational community and neighborhood and the use of ICT’s.
– SOCIAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL: help socially by using the acquired knowledge, study of the environment and promote education for its protection and care.

The participating partners have as a link: wanting to help these students in need, interest in new methodologies, the study and care of the closest heritage as well as the discovery of UNESCO heritage, the creation of links with other European centers and the comparison of educational systems.

To achieve these objectives, the actions revolve around 6 central axes linked to the six colors of the rainbow: heritage promotion (red), linguistic heritage (blue), spiritual and traditional heritage (purple), natural heritage (green), cultural heritage (yellow) and social heritage and EU Charter of Fundamental Rights (orange). The proposed activities include case studies, research, photography contests, video conferences, video production, creation of information points …

During 3 or 4 months we will work on one color through different activities. Most of them use eTwinning because students are going to work through international cooperative groups. The idea is that students should know each of the activities in each country, as well as the results obtained because in the Learning, Education and Training Activity (LETA), they will exhibit their work at a fair to families and invited associations. In addition, the color orange will be addressed at each mobility to study a fundamental right, leaving the results exposed in the corners of the schools dedicated to it.

The fair will be the culmination of the learning and service methodology. As for mobility, it will be set using gamification with the title of “Save the colors of the rainbow for Gaia”. The students will do the activities in the meetings in the role(costume) of the heroes (characters from each country, they may be of legends, artists, athletes, national hero …)

Teachers will have training workshops on the different methodologies to apply, as well as notions of how to teach students in need, such as dyslexia or what it is like teaching in a practice school of the university for student teachers learning how to teach in practice teaching 15 lessons in a class.

The project is designed so that it can be applied throughout the secondary education stage of each of the centers. Likewise, all students will be able to participate in the center activities since they are designed to be applied from the areas, there will even be interdisciplinary activities.

As for the LETA, there will be a total of 125 participating students, 25 of them will have some need. The selection will be made for motivation, participation in the proposed activities, good behavior, with what will be available to everyone.

Etwinning will be essential for students to share their results, plan exhibitions, monitor common activities, dialogue … Also the teachers and coordinators will make the same use.

We hope to be able to achieve the proposed objectives, achieving the union of the students among the countries that acquire improvement of the competences worked, that there is a greater knowledge of the culture that we share, knowledge of the European Union and the tools that it offers us, such as Interrail, Solidarity Corps, Erasmus, Europass, teaching practicing, community voluntary work.

Students will find it useful to learn a language that facilitates communication with other countries, they will break the idea of just working in their country, they will open their borders so that in the future they can study and work in other European countries.

The center and the educational community will benefit from this link, they will get to know the different cultures through tolerance, respect, and non-discrimination. Each center will have a European corner and another dedicated to the fundamental values of the EU.

In the long term, each center will be able to apply the new methodologies learned, they will learn more ICT tools to be able to apply in their classes, they will be able to celebrate each world day highlighted in the project, they will have a common base of activities (Excel), a link with the associations and with the participating European centers.
