Project Summary
The project we (Portugal, Italy and Poland) intend to run will be a project of exchanging good practices and all the activities will be performed by students under the guidance of their teachers. With this project we aim to introduce our countries in a perspective of students’ passions, hobbies and interests and promote an unusual aspect of each culture and the understanding of cultural bridge. Our students will learn from each other about their customs, cultures and passions. The teenagers will present their passions, interests and hobbies and notice that they are all the same. They will practise speaking English and ICT skills, show their interests, present their ways of thinking, learn respect. They will practise English, both speaking, writing and listening, and ICT skills; they will learn some vocabulary and important basic expressions in the languages of the partners, show their interests, present their ways. They will have a chance to visit some places. Moreover, they will have an idea about European citizenship. They will develop “the understanding” on differences among people, thus, a tolerance towards the unknown. Simultaneously, they will appreciate more their own cultural identity (become more public-spirited), and gain more self-esteem (cherishing their own cultural values). They will practise their English, they will become familiar with other cultures and broaden their knowledge concerning English, modern technology and European culture. They will understand the need of the other. They will mix and mingle within the European Community borders and learn to cooperate. The students’ teachers will have the chance to exchange some ideas on teaching methods (for example blended learning), apply some innovative techniques (classes outside classrooms) to their courses thus making their lesson more interesting. They will have the chance to get acquainted with various school systems and compare their curriculum and teaching methods. One of the priorities of this project is ‘promoting engaging, connecting and empowering young people’ The students will gather some information, make presentations/ videos and create a web-page including all the activities undertaken by them. In this way we will improve our ICT skills. Developing skills and competencies especially in ICT using foreign languages will contribute to discovering and communicating with new European partners and working together within this project. Some ICT products will be prepared. Different teachers will also have their chance to contribute to the project. Additionally, headmasters, guidance counselors, teachers and the others will have a chance to exchange their pedagogical approaches, methods, teaching techniques and their experience. All partners are from different parts of Europe, from east to west, with mixture of different cultures and traditions, similar passions. Students will have the possibility of getting to know the culture, the geography and the language of the partner countries through our web-page, eTwinning platform, Erasmus+ corners in schools, brochures, etc. These studies will raise their awareness of some cultural differences, modern technology skills and hobby similarities among European citizens. The students will carry out some research, gather some information. The cultural differences between the teenagers should not be an obstacle in their dialogue. There are some ways which can be helpful to create a conversation between these three young groups. Among these ways we point out English language, modern technology, different European cultures, similar passions. All the planned activities will make the cultural bridge smaller. Moreover, with some innovative teaching techniques we would like to make our tasks more interesting. We wish to show that there are some ways to bridge the gap among cultures.
