Project Summary

The one year project “How to START UP for Young People”, financed by European Commission within Erasmus Plus projects was devoted to fighting against unemployment among young people, especially from vulnerable groups, poor background and fewer opportunities. The problem of unemployment is a huge issue up to now for young people in some countries of EU and Eastern Partnership. There is no doubt that one project cannot solve such a huge problem as unemployment that young people face today in Europe, but the international team of professional NGOs, leaders, experts and trainers who have designed the project in a special way to train and teach young people entrepreneurship, leadership skills and knowledge how to START UP their own small business or job and be successful. The project involved eight participating countries in total 5 EU countries + 3 Eastern Partnership Countries, where the rate of unemployment is the highest in Europe. Participating countries from EU were: Italy, Portugal, Greece, France, Croatia and from Easter Partnership Countries Armenia, Georgia Ukraine were involved. The Applicant and Coordinating organisation was “Educational and Cultural Bridges NGO” from Armenia. The project was implemented totally in 8 steps with 3 main implementing stages (2 Capacity Building Activities + 1 Mobility Activity).First stage of the project was Workshop that was implemented in Yerevan, Armenia from March 30 – 7 April, 2019. In total 24 youth leaders, as well as youth workers and decision making bodies of NGOs participated in this workshop. Each 8 country was presented by 3 delegates specialized in the topic of unemployment, youth inclusion, leadership, entrepreneurship. During 7 full working days, the leaders discussed the problem of unemployment in each participating country; each country-delegation presented a detailed PPT presentation about the problem in their country, participants shared their opinions with each other. Professional experts specialized in entrepreneurship were invited, and they transferred to youth leaders the necessary knowledge and tools in the process of helping young people to START UP. The team had also opportunity to visit several leading START UP organisations in Armenia such as “Fast Foundation”, ” BANA- Business Angels Network of Armenia”, “HUB 256″,”TUMO Technological Centre” and much more. The second stage of the project was youth exchange was took place in Yerevan, Armenia from 4-15 September 2019. Exchange gathered 40 participants in total (including leaders) from the same 8 countries. During 10 days young people had opportunity to express their problems, shared ideas with the same age participants from other countries and with the help of professional team of leaders got necessary skills and knowledge on how to start up, what are the possibilities and etc.The second stage of the project – Youth Exchange gathered in Armenia young people from 8 countries from 4-15 September, 2019. Each country was presented by 4 participants and led by its National country team leader. The leaders of exchange guided the youngsters on their way to learn, share with each other and develop their competences and knowledge. A special session was designed by one of the experts on self-branding, how to write correct CV and motivation letter and much more.The last stage of the project was Evaluation, that took place in Nancy, France from 20-23 October, 2019. 8 leaders one from each country participated in Evaluation of the project. The leaders discussed the Workshop and Youth Exchange, presented the feedbacks of the participants. Overall all the leaders have mentioned that the outcomes and results of the project are great. They also presented Guidebooks of 60 pages translated in national languages, the official web page of the project www.startupyoungpeople.com was finalised,2 video films were created and disseminated.The leaders also discussed the future cooperation and upcoming projects.
