Project Summary
“Human Rights Education: stand up for your rights”
In 2015 three European upper secondary schools from Finland, France and Italy decided to promote Human Rights Education and Inclusion in their schools and municipalities with the help of the Erasmus+ KA219 programme. The applicant organization was Kallaveden lukio (Kuopio, Finland) and the partners were IIS Tartaglia-Olivieri (Brescia, Italy) and Lycée des Métiers du Tourisme Cordouan (Royan, France).
The key persons of the Project were teachers (the members of the Erasmus+ teams) and 60 students (between the age of 15-19) from the three schools. The project included three seven-day Learning, Teaching and Training activities (LTT): in Royan (April, 2017), in Kuopio (January, 2018) and in Brescia (April, 2018).
The main objective of the Project was to raise awareness of Human Rights among all participants and stakeholders (students, parents, teachers, head teachers and school staff, educational authorities) and encourage to defend and promote putting the rights into practice at different levels (local/school, municipal, national and EU level). The project also aimed at promoting equal rights and opportunities of all students through inclusion at school and at everyday life of each person.
During the LTT weeks activities contributed the project´s objective though different kind of presentations, role plays and workshops. The most important achievement we reached was to make the Human Right issues something that is present in everyday life of every student in the project. Our students became clearly consciousness about the wide range of the problematic issues concerned with basic universal rights. This new consciousness our students gained was spread out to the wider public by several internet pages with free access.
