Project Summary
The project I am my life hero challenged present problems of weak engagement in school field and low level of motivation.Having observed the situation of the young development, we noticed danger of mixed up values, worse conditions of living. The young without a hero lack meaningful source of inspiration and lose inner power. Our school societies noticed the importance of taking right choices, find the strength to fight weakness and help others who are in lower position like the disabled and minorities. The common work filled up the word hero with good meanings and inspired students who changed into active, self-confident with key skills. The project activities were integrated in the schools’ curricula, included in lessons and Erasmus+ meetings. Depending on the project aims students resolved various tasks individually, with family members, also in team cooperation. Teamwork offered a great lesson to communicate in authentic context. As a result pupils became open and aware of European issues. The common project aims were to:
lead students and the communities to reconsider lifestyle
create opportunities for students to express themselves in creative ways by means of ICT and English
stimulate creativity to discover talents and fight weakness which leads to self -development
engage modern technologies
involve the town communities with the local minorities-the handicapped and kindergartens
share experiences and work to include them in school educational programmes.
The project work focused around 5 main events organised at partner schools according to the experience. We agreed that each partner would bring a specific value worked out before. Each school society worked over the common ideas preparing to Hero Weeks. The Hero Weeks took place in November 2018- National Hero to celebrate 100th Anniversary of Independence. Language Teaching and Training activities took place in March 2019- Healthy Hero, May 2019- Sports Hero, February 2020- Team Hero and the last online visit in June 2020- Smart Hero.
The Cypriot school presented its great experience in health education. It organised C1 the first Week of Healthy Hero. It’s been cooperating with University in Nicosia for many years. Due to the project we were offered the opportunity to exchange ideas of food habits. Healthy hero as a role model was presented in a lecture about nutrition by Cypriot professor. By improving eating habits during workshops our schools learnt how to eat well and avoid bad addictions. We were presented national heritage being invited to the annual celebration of the Cichenupti Festival of food and traditional dance.
The Italian partner assured us about sports involvement during C2 LTT Sports Hero Week. It’s been working hard on the implementation of life skills education to help the young live successfully the transition from childhood to adulthood and to lead sportive and productive personal and social life. The event gathered the whole school community including the disabled sportsmen who influenced us positively presenting the real fight in everyday life obstacles. Erasmus+ team had a nice opportunity to celebrate EU Day. We had a special lesson for students and 14 teachers to reflect on important aims of EU and partnership. We talked about EU history, symbols and the dates of accession. The days were especially important for Cypriot and Polish partners as they celebrated 15th anniversary of accession.
The Spanish school organised C3 LTT called Team Hero Week. It has been working on multidisciplinary curricula dealing with projects about healthy lifestyle and cultural heritage. One of the main goals of the mobility was team work. It involved us into working over cooperative virtues as the way to express and motivate to rise self-esteem.The Erasmus+ partnership related to the school engagement into multilingualism and team workshops of building Human Towers and annual carnival celebration with a school dance play in eco costumes. The partner experience of making school radio programmes was of great value teaching us cooperation in preparing school news broadcasting weekly at school and local levels.
During C4 LTT Smart Hero Week Polish coordinator presented modern IT skills in everyday teaching. In the time of online education because of Corona virus pandemic, it organised the visit week online, in which it presented the educational ideas based on modern IT tools in various subjects especially in foreign language education. Participants had opportunities to see experiments, various apps in spots and the newest tools.
Preparing activities we exchanged experiences in school communities, inviting families, the elderly and from local kindergartens, the minorities and the disabled to the competitions, workshops and open school days. We spread our partnership via parallel eTwinning project Life Hero. We experienced that hero values do not have specific nationality. They become a kind of bridge connecting nations to bring up European citizens.
