Project Summary
The objective of the project was supporting youth in one of the most critical areas of life, connected with mental health, which substantially affects other areas. The need for the project stems from the results of studies on young people in Poland, which have been deteriorating year on year. Parties involved in the project included: the medical community, youth workers, schools, persons responsible for youth-related policies, and young people themselves. This project was an answer to the international research results of HBSC (Health Behaviour of School-aged Children) which show that the indicators according to mental health among children and youth are worsening with age, especially among the group of girls. According to the latest research from 2014, Polish youth: assessed their health worse, is rarely satisfied with their lives and feels health problems much more often than their peers from most countries that have been researched. The aim of the project was to do a proper research in Polish and Portuguese schools (on group of 2000 students) on the subject of mental health. Further stage was preparing educational and informational materials (reports from the survey) according to the results of the research, for the broad group of recipients – people working with youth, teachers, parents, children and teenagers. Adjusting scientific report to recipients working on this problems on daily basis (ex. teachers and parents) was an innovation for both partnership organisations. The aim of all the activities is to put together in a discussion and collectively search for solutions for various environments – doctors, class tutors, parents along with an active participation of youth. The workshops was be led by young people for young people – in the project we was created groups of youth ambassadors, which disseminating the results of our project. The parents recived a tool which will help them to notice worrisome and disturbing symptoms in children’s behaviour, to interpret their actions and will turn them to specialised organisations supporting raising up children and youngsters. In the field of dissemination activities both organisations presented the results to the national decision makers responsible for politics towards youth.
