Project Summary
The main aim of this project was to contribute to high quality work-based VET for young people and afterwards to increase their competitiveness at labour market. This main aim was fulfilled by specific way of work-based learning, development of business video presentations and it´s implementation in companies. Project was going to establish a background for good practice exchange at the European level and to create conditions for teachers’ discussions and verification of methods for assessment of the learners progress during the work-placements. 60 teachers were directly involved into the project (10 in CZ, 10 in IT, 9 in BG, 10 in NL, 11 in ES, 10 in PT) when working with students at the development stage and sharing experience in assessment. 21 of them participated personally at short term training event.
The specific objective of the project was to establish sustainable and mutually beneficial relations between vocational schools (VET) and small and medium enterprises (SMEs), which was realized by direct involvement of 69 SMEs into the work-based learning. SMEs cooperated on development the video presentations and use of the output in marketing.
There were all together 158 students involved into the project (25 CZ, 25 IT, 15 BG, 66 NL, 17 ES, 10 PT). Students together with their teachers applied knowledge and skills gained at school in creation of video podcasts for presentation and promotion of SMEs. Students worked in groups and development of a podcast was a process with the key role of a teacher.
We continuously collected feedback from teachers, SMEs and students and reported about development of key competences of students. For some of them there was a first real contact with labour market, they learned how to communicate and how to present their skills. Students in teams learned how to work on the project from analyse stage to the final presentation. Most of teachers appreciated the progress the students have made.
At the C1 training event teachers learned how to work in the INGOTS system, which was practically presented by the subcontractor TLM. All teachers tried the system themselves and some of them awarded the students by certificates already.
The project was successful in supporting the cooperation between VET and the labour market with the aim to enable the students to get practical labour experience and businesses to benefit from the innovative thinking of students. There are practical results of those cooperation presented at www.inplace.cz.
