Project Summary

The main objective of the project is to fight prejudices and exclusion and to help young people to acquire an open-mindedness and to develop their tolerance. Our target groups of pupils are 14-18 years old. Our Partnership includes secondary schools from France, Poland, Italy, Portugal and Germany. The partner organizations share common interests and ambition to enhance cross-culture connectedness, to apply various ICTs in the learning-teaching process, to foster leadership and media training, community service, and educational travel. We have established a strong and committed Strategic Partnership with an added value of all the partners, whose role in the project is specific. The various profiles of our organizations contribute to the fair distributions of tasks, and significantly enrich our endeavour to provide modern education with innovative tools that will bridge the gap between the restricted curricula opportunities of secondary education, and young people’s real needs for their future educational and career development.
“INCLUSION : Together we make a difference” is a topic which should be of interest to most pupils. All of the participating countries are aware of the difficult situations encountered by people with SEN and are aware of the fact that to any problem there is a solution. Given the nature of our globalized world, many borders and prejudices have disappeared. Consequently, a lot of young people today are open-minded and tolerant, but this project aims at deepening pupils’ understanding of the necessity to build up a Europe which is home to all its inhabitants, including disabled ones. Students will discover new ways in which they can live their “European Dimension” and what they can do to become active Europeans who can change the world for the better. Apart from learning about the historical development and legislation related to inclusion in all the respective partner countries, the students will compare what opportunities are available to disabled ones in particular, what role school plays in this context and what their personal wishes and hopes are. Inclusion entails new challenges and chances, but also uncertainties and fears. While doing the project the students can examine important issues which affect our daily life. The main issues are to provide students and teachers with a deeper understanding of inclusion and to widen their knowledge in various subject areas will be included in this cross-curricular project, for example English, History, Science and Technology, Social Studies, Citizenship and Art whilst integrating students who come from different cultural backgrounds. By conducting research into Inclusion values, pupils’ appreciation of belonging to a united Europe will increase.
In its early stage the project will focus on the historical process of acceptance and integration of the disabled in a European context and its importance for the participating countries. Furthermore, the students will develop their own viewpoints with regard to a united Europe as it affects them. They will collect a wide range of material to gain a deeper insight into the complexities involved in the issues, mainly disabled inclusion and European citizenship.
