Project Summary

INCLUSIVE CIRCUS FROM IBERIA TO ITALY is a Strategic Association for Creativity in the fields of youth, education and training for two years. It is made up of three non-profit entities: Associação Portuguesa de Pais e Amigos do Cidadão Deficient Mental APPACDM of Setúbal (Portugal), Compagnia Elefanti of Naples (Italy) and the coordinators La Finestra Nou Circ of Valencia (Spain). The three are focused on social youth work from the performing arts and the Spanish, and Italian, they also focus on circus training.

– Integration of young people at risk of exclusion. We work and watch over the non-discrimination of the youth. We defend equal rights and opportunities. We integrate participants of different profiles: young people at risk of social exclusion, young people with functional diversity, etc.
– Adequate personal development of young people. We promote the right to education and educational attention, in terms of the full development of the personality and the acquisition of knowledge and skills that promote personal development, such as psychomotor skills, empathy, teamwork, self-esteem, projection artistic, commitment, persistence, self-confidence…
– Artistic and cultural projection. We facilitate and channel the concerns and motivations of minors and provide ways to satisfy them. We promote the right to active culture, free time, leisure and sports. We facilitate access to artistic and cultural activities.
– Promotion of participation and active citizenship. We enable spaces for coexistence where a variety of opinions, ideas, and beliefs are expressed and experiences are exchanged. Through our programs, we promote the development of healthy relationships between minors, with their families and with the environment, based on respect, listening and recognition.
– Social awareness. We carry out an important work towards society in general on the various problems, promoting citizen co-responsibility.
– Construction of professional and youth networks. Through this project the connection between the different participating entities, partner circus entities, youth and social entities, administrations and scenic spaces is fostered, generating networks between the entities that go beyond the project itself.

The objectives of our project are the following:

1. Promote the Personal Development of Young People at risk of exclusion and Young People with Functional Diversity.
2. Develop the structures of the project partners, through networking, language training and the training of their teachers.
3. Design a program of common training activities and a homogeneous validation system, as well as a Guide to Good Practices and a collection of articles related to Circus applied to the social field.
4. Facilitate the transition between training and the labour market for young people at risk of social exclusion, through transnational training on crosscutting issues and the opportunity for first job experiences.
5. Make circus training visible, bringing it closer to the public and organizing meetings of circus training centres and entities focused on the Social and Youth field.

To achieve these objectives we have planned the following activities:
• 3 coordination meetings.
• 1 weekly local workshop in each partner country, with two groups of young people.
• 4 virtual meetings to exchange Good Practices.
• 3 pedagogical workshops for professionals from the Youth and Circus.
• 3 specific workshops for Young People at Risk of Social Exclusion and Functional Diversity.
• 6 circus shows before the public, two in each partner country.
• 6 workshops given by the young people themselves to the public, two in each partner country.

The project will generate two documentary products:
• Good Practice Guide for Circus Schools.
• Collection of Articles about Circus Training.
• Publication of website, social networks, press releases, etc.

European mobility activities will focus on 3 national events, one in each partner’s country. Framed in this national event, each of the organizations will develop the project activities and other activities of their own. The activities are 1 coordination meeting in Italy, 1 training workshop for trainers in Spain, and 1 specific circus workshop for young participants. The rest of the meetings and workshops are held locally in each partner country, with videoconferencing in the case of meetings. All the materials resulting from the project will be published and freely accessible in order to share the results with other schools and centres. The evaluation of the project will be continuous.
The visibility actions that are proposed are multiple and through various channels.
