Project Summary
The project “INNOVATIVE CROSS-CURRICULAR LESSONS” aims to contribute to the development of cross-curricular learning and learning. Our main goal was to train our teachers in up-to-date innovative strategies, including the use of modern technologies and previous language, which are essential issues for achieving our goals. The objective of this approach was to increase the key skills of our students (literacy in native and foreign languages, ICT, learning learning and critical thinking skills) to deeply understand the world around them. This strategic partnership involved five public schools in Italy, Lithuania, Turkey, Bulgaria and Romania and a private school in Greece, with students aged between 3 and 12 years, located either in cities or in rural areas, all related to the same educational aspirations – to give new strength to the teaching profession. At the same time, we enable our students skills and values for 21st century life through more meaningful learning. The idea of the project starts from the analysis of the school programs from each partner country and from some of our successful practices. What we set out to achieve and achieved was creating a cross-curricular lesson model with examples of best practices and resources that allowed teachers to implement this approach. In order to reach our goals we have carried out a variety of activities such as teacher training sessions, observing good practices in the classroom, applying innovative cross-curricular projects, communication between schools and students, student activity in cross-curricular dissemination and research. Each partner country had to perform certain tasks independently such as:
BULGARIA: “The closing part of the project”, elaboration, application and interpretation of the results of two questionnaires that clarified that the project has achieved its objectives, completed by each partner.
ITALY: Organization of the training course “Cooperative learning and problem solving approach” for teachers
TURKEY: To design a web page of the project / Creating web pages with photos and documents sent to the site / Creating a facebook group for the project.
GREECE: Organization of “Ways to introduce English into daily teaching in class” for teachers
LITHUANIA: Organization of the LOGO competition
ROMANIA: Organization of the training course for teachers in the ICT field for teachers / Preparation of an activity calendar / Coordination of resources / Preparation of the “project” / printing of brochures. The implementation of this project in all the partner schools was a factor that influenced the improvement of the quality of the work of our schools. It is believed that the impact exceeds the duration of the project, due to the useful skills acquired by both teachers and students.Achieving objectives of the project has contributed to the development of human resources through the acquisition of English communication skills, ICT, problem solving and autonomous learning, new educational methods and their application in lessons taught day by day. The following results were achieved: 4 teachers from each partner country participated in training in Italy, entitled “Cooperative Learning and Problem Solving”, acquired new methods used in the Montessori alternative teaching-evaluation 4 teachers participated from each partner country participated in the training in Greece with the title “Ways to introduce English into daily teaching in class”, teachers have acquired cross-curricular teaching skills. 4 teachers from the partner countries have taught in Romania to use ICT tools in teaching lessons and designing documents All the teachers received certificates of participation, EUROPASS; for the teachers in Romania, it was requested the equivalent in transferable credits. The students were delighted with this project and its activities. They collaborated enthusiastically with us and their families, they helped a lot in our project implementation work. The activities in which the students were involved were the pen type, the design of posters, the creation of stories, the creation of brochures and tourist videos about their city, all in English language, so that the students had the opportunity to really use this foreign language and not just study it. The students involved have improved their public speaking skills, increased their self-esteem. Friendships between children from partner countries continue even now (all these results can be found on the websites: www.clubulcopiilorpascani.ro and www.icclerasmus.com). Disseminating the results of the project at the national competitions in which our institution participated was an example for other school units that have submitted ERASMUS projects, such as the Victoria Children’s Club, Brasov County.
