Project Summary

Social economy represents a relevant sector in Europe, with 2 million enterprises (10 % of all EU businesses) and 14 million paid employees, about 6.5% of the EU workers (EP, 2017).
However, this beneficial impact is blocked by different factors. Among them we underline:
-lack of awareness and recognition of social entrepreneurship,
-a concrete lack of general entrepreneurship skills, models and work experience especially among young people (OECD/EC/2017),
-lack of specialised training and education (EC, 2013).
EnSoEd is aimed at supporting the initial and continuous professional development of teachers’ profiles in accordance with the European lifelong learning approach through the application of practical and innovative tools in order to promote social entrepreneurship education in secondary schools.
The project took into account identified needs & gaps related to social entrepreneurship education and in particular:
-need for a practice-based approach that provides innovative resources and collaborative practices
-lack of an open, inclusive and community-based approach that considers social entrepreneurship education to be effective only if taught into, and for the community
-necessity of promoting and developing digital learning environment.

The main Project results were:
OUTPUT 1. EnSoEd Competences
This output aims at defining specific key competences in the field of social entrepreneurship for secondary school students.

OUTPUT 2. EnSoEd training programme
The training curriculum was developed for secondary school teachers for strengthening teaching professions from Initial Teacher Education (ITE) to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) with regards to social entrepreneurship education.

OUTPUT 3. EnSoEd ToolKit
This output was aimed at designing and developing the ToolKit for educating secondary school students on social entrepreneurship.

OUTPUT 4. EnSoEd online environment
The EnSoEd online environment consisted of two key components:
1. The MOOC: the online course for teachers (IO2) offered as a MOOC in order to allow large number of users and to facilitate its transferability and further exploitation.
2. The Structured ToolKit: the TooKit and related guidelines developed in IO3, organized online in a way that it promotes the tools’ association with the EnSoEd training programme and their interdependence.

Project impact:
The desired impact at local and regional level is that the EnSoEd will become a reference in developing skills for Social Entrepreneurship and achieve the greatest adhesion and participation of all the organisations and individuals already involved in each partner’s network, in order to offer services and support to learning activities about Social Entrepreneurship.

At country participation national levels , the impact has been effective in to involving schools and teachers in the field of Social Entrepreneurship as multiplier actors and contribute to the use of Project results. At European level, the project has outlined the ‘social’ structure of the European economy, shedding lights on its benefits and added values at social, cultural and economic level. It has developed a conducive ecosystem that helps social enterprises to start, evolve and develop and be equipped with a proper social entrepreneurial spirit .
