Project Summary

Integration of new technologies into classroomThe project was created to boost students’ motivation for using new technologies into school-lessons and for their home-work. Students and teachers learned to use new computer-programs for lessons and private-learning. With these tools they created materials of different topics for using in their own classes and for other students and teachers. During the meetings the participants worked together in mixed groups to create results which are relevant for every school. This cooperation promotes intercultural dialogue among people from different countries and backgrounds in a European context. So the students got more involved in their own learning by using the computer in their studying and improving their results and performance. On the other hand they made the experience what it means to be a European to expose them to different ways of thinking, values and beliefs. The partnership includes five schools – Estonia, Germany, Greece, Italy and Turkey with different types of schools, social-backgrounds and geographical conditions. It was a mirror of the diversity of Europe and it’s surrounding (from the rural area in Estonia to the “Megalopolis” of Istanbul) and a variety of ethnic and religious backgrounds, which made the project even more appealing. This improved the students’ motivation, involvement and promoted the intercultural dialogue. The students were involved in their own learning with a view to attaining better results and becoming more motivated. They developed their transversal skills – numeracy, computer, literacy, critical and creative thinking, personal and social capability; intercultural understanding and acceptance by the communication in English as the common language of the project. During the group work European values were promoted and a cohesion between European citizens and Turkey was developed. The using of special software to create (fun) lessons about customs and traditions, artwork, religious topics, mathematics and literature (book-trailers) was very successful. To safeguard the results, online programs were used to create quizzes and these were used online too. Students improved their knowledge in terms of ICT tools for educational purposes, practical skillsrelated to designing mini-lessons, story-trailers, digital projects, online quizzes and digital artwork. The motivation to create school results growed up. The experience of another culture, the increase of adaptability, self-awareness and awareness of cultural differences which make Europe so diverse, and yet unitary are unforgettable. Teachers could exchange good practices, opinions, teaching methods and tools. They improved their English, digital and organizational-skills.The schools promoted a positive self-image and got more visible in the communities. They gained project management experience and set examples for other schools to apply for projects. They also became more cohesive and a positive atmosphere was be created among the members. The results are available: https://integrationognewtechnolologiesintoclassr.weebly.com/
