Project Summary

INTER-NATIONAL net_works+ was a training and networking project for youth workers, educators and organisers of youth music competitions across Europe. Based on the evaluation during a pilot project in 2014, the main objective was to facilitate exchange and create sustainable cooperation between participants to find creative and innovative solutions to the new challenges facing youth workers and organisers of youth activities in the cultural field in order to improve the quality of support systems for youth on a local, national and European level.

The activities of this participatory project employed non-formal education methods to enhance intercultural learning and provided participants with practical knowledge and transferable skills that they can use on a national and local level to improve the current and future possibilities for young people from a range of educational, social and cultural backgrounds.

There were nine project partners, including music schools, federations, foundations, teacher associations, and music competitions, from Germany, Lithuania, Luxembourg, FYR Macedonia, Norway, Slovakia and Spain. A total of 46 persons were directly involved, including nine experts and five young musicians.

Activities included:

Workshops included: – Musical repertoire at competition, an exchange of best practices by all participants present; – Future lab: Making competitions fit for the future, a round table discussion to discuss the challenges and develop solutions to ensure the sustainability of the support that music competitions give to young musicians;

– the final conference in Luxembourg (L) (June 29-1 July, 2018), an initiative under the patronage of Mr. Jean-Claude Juncker, President of the European Commission, that brought together 43 participants, experts, guests and young musicians from 18 countries. Workshops included: – the presentation of the results of the INTER-NATIONAL net_works+ project, looking at the past topics and discussions and developing ideas for new innovative projects; – Exchange of best practices, through informal brainstorming for possible further cooperation; – Data Protection at Music Competitions; – Audience development.
