Project Summary
The project “Interkulturelle kompetencer” has the main target to develop the intercultural competences of the involved students by increasing the intercultural contact between to classes of young students in Italy and Denmark. They will meet each others on equal terms, go to school together and have a special experience of Homestay during the project. The mail goal is to achieve the intercultural competencies by meeting “the other” european reality and devoting the intercultural knowledge of the involved students and teachers as described in the ministerial demands to the Danish secondary level education in 2017.
It is the intention of the project to give strength to the student involved and helping in developing teaching in international classes and also giving the schools a better opportunity to form partnerships through Erasmus +.
This project has unfortunately been hit very hard by the corona-pandemic. In the forst place during spring because of the first wave of the corona pandemic and lockdown. The consequences were that the italian partnerschool could not come to revisit the danish school as planned. The second time the project was hit hard was during autumn were we planned a new revisit but during the second lockdown also this opportunity was closed. The students in Italy was hit hard by the pandemic, the area were they live was one of the hardest infected areas in Europa so their focus were at the homeschooling challenges. The danish students are preparing for the exams so it seems to be impossible the end the project in the way it was planned or with virtual exchange. The challenge of preparing for exams in homeschool takes all the focus of both the italian and danish partners.
But this project has inspired Silkeborg Gymnasium to make a new partnership about environmental challenges with a german partnerschool, and engage us in E.twinning opportunities to use as a virtual tool.
We also agreed with the italian partners to continue our partnership when the pandemic is over.
