Project Summary

“Jobs for the Future” is a cross-curricular approach to careers guidance in a changing world impacted by digitalization, climate change and globalization.

New technologies, a digitalized workflow, climate change, the impacts of the Corona crisis, or developing organizational structures in companies and small businesses have
changed our economy in recent years. Schools must react to these changes and prepare students as well as teachers for these new challenges in a more and more diverse and economically challenging Europe. This project tries to deal with some of these challenges.

Five partner schools from all across Europe start their journey to explore the answers to the following questions:

1) Which employment opportunities can students find on the new job market?
2) How can we promote skills (especially entrepreneurship and project management) that are essential to compete in our changing economy?
3) What can teachers do, to develop the digital skills of all members of the school community?

1) This project will help our students gain an informed perspective into employment and new and changing opportunities available not just in their own local areas but also in other countries in Europe. Students will get to know a variety of employment sectors, jobs and opportunities for further education, which will help to decide on their future careers and motivate them to pursue one. To achieve this aim we will use a wide range of methods including online-questionnaires, digital presentations in various forms, like explainity videos or greenscreen videos, communication through various digital channels, e.g. eTwinning, website postings and videography, collaboration, discussions, etc. All materials produced throughout the project will be published as Open Educational Resources (OER) on our project website and on eTwinning. We will encourage all schools across Europe to get access to these materials using various dissemination channels, like Twitter, eTwinning, Padlet, Instagram, and many more.

2) For a future Europe the value of entrepreneurship and skills in project management are essential for economic growth. “Jobs for the Future” gives students the chance to establish their very own mini-enterprises at each partner school. They will acquire enterprise skills (planning, organizing, producing, marketing, selling and evaluating) in real life situations when they sell their products at international student sales at the Learning/Training/Teaching/Activities. Employees and employers in all sectors collaborate and organize their workflow in projects. Throughout our project, students will collaborate to plan, organize and evaluate different hands-on workshops for student groups that will take place during the Learning/Training/Teaching Activities to grow their skills in project management.

3) We would like to prepare our students, us teachers and our colleagues for the future and the challenges of working in a digitalized world. Many teachers and schools are still in the “digital Stone Age” and struggle to find their way to be a digitally adapt school of tomorrow. Of course, there are reasons: many schools don’t have the equipment and many teachers don’t have the knowledge and skills. In many countries, there is a lack of opportunity for further training for the teachers. In our project, the teachers will instruct and learn from each other during workshops at the LTTAs on subjects like using digital tools in class and for the workflow, teaching media awareness, concepts of eLearning/eTeaching, implementing collaboration between students and colleagues, data privacy and copyright. To involve our school communities and give access to the OER-material to all interested parties, we will publish everything on our project website and eTwinning Space.

The five partner schools working together towards our common outcomes are:
Mörike-Realschule Heilbronn, Germany (coordinating school)
Fundacion Noruega Costa Blanca, L’Alfaz del Pi, Spain
OOU “Metodi Mitevskl-Brico” Lozovo, Lozovo, The Republic of North Macedonia
Türi Põhikool, Türi, Estonia
Școala Gimnaziala Nimigea De Jos, Nimigea, De Jos, Romania

We have divided our project in 5 sections. These sections will explore specific topics in detail and each includes an LTTA to one of our partner schools. In preparation for and during the LTTAs varied digital OERs will be produced which will be published for the use in classrooms all across Europe.
