Project Summary
The current project is part of an honored partnership between the regional education authority of Reims and the Bucovine and also the partnership between the « INSPE » and the Suceava University initiated by the regional mission of the Board of Education (DAREIC and INSPE), missioned itself by the DREIC. The DAREIC proposed volunteer schools to engage in partnerships set with the assistance of the Attaché for Educational Cooperation of the French Embassy in Bucharest.
The Lycée Polyvalent Denis Diderot of Langres (France) and the Colegiul National Radu Greceanu of Slatina (Romania) have the same features and have been connected, just like 6 other partnerships emerging in the regional education authority. They both consider the importance of European openness as essential in their respective school project. They agree on the fact that foreign languages study is a major asset for students, in their current and future professional careers and trips. As future European citizens, it is important for students to understand concretely the European continent’s reality by overcoming cultural and physical borders.
The interdisciplinary themes pupils will work on will be history and geography (natural, cultural and industrial heritage and productive areas) as well as sustainable development (waste management, fight against food waste, concrete ecological practices). Both themes allow to cross-breed and improve their mutual representations and experiences.
Each school wants to intensify its own European influence by creating new partnerships. This project will enable the strong rise of the current ERASMUS+ plan over two years. Above all, the aim will be to settle well-established roots for a complete and long-lasting partnership.
Thus, each pupil will have a foreign same-aged pen-pal so as to practice the different studied languages in a practical context (English, French, German). This will have a personal dimension and will motivate them to discover a new language as well as a new culture. We strongly hope that this will allow students to create long-lasting relationships, beyond the school path.
During the first year, two major directions will be followed:
* The work between teaching staff and conferences by external organization. Two teachers’ exchanges will be organized to allow teachers to foresee how to work together.
* Two groups of 24 pupils will be linked (via eTwinning platform) under the supervision of their teachers. Epistolary exchanges, based on the interdisciplinary themes mentioned previously, will help students know each other while practicing foreign languages. Then, the ultimate purpose will be to reinforce the European aspect of this project by arousing their personal interest. Indeed, the latter will be done thanks to the use of an another language and the openness to another culture while exchanging on learning activities.
These epistolary exchanges, continuous throughout the project, are henceforth destined to be permanent.
During the second year, will be planned:
* The establishment of a physical exchange for the two 24-students groups previously mentioned (following the work of the previous year set by students and teachers). During this exchange, they will discover the concrete realities of both countries through local industries visits.
* The beginning of epistolary exchanges with 200 new applying students per school. By the school year 2023-2024, the total amount of students in both schools will be concerned by the project.
The crucial linguistic dimension will be combined to a European cultural one, thanks to the rich Histories. The economic as well as industrial realities of both countries will have been studied in class and in situ. This project will be the occasion to enhance both establishment’s skills, even considering obtaining a labeling for this matter. The aim is also for school communities to work on a common realization concerning the climate emergency.
Following the experience of an exchange established between the Romanian high school and a French high school in Orléans (Call for proposals 2020, Session 1, KA2 – Cooperation in innovation and exchange of good practices KA229 – Partnerships for school exchanges, Form ID KA229-C4467561 Deadline for application (Brussels time) 2020-04-23 12:00:00 FR 3 / 83) which evolved around drama, this current project will enable students to combine the achievements made in this domain, especially since Langres’ high school also has a drama section.
The funding hoped for will allow each school to give a new dimension to its policy of European openness. One of the main purposes is that each of our students realizes its European and democratic citizenship in order to live it to its fullest. It will also enable to reduce mobility costs which is still too often perceived as a form of economic discrimination for some families. The financial contribution of some students coming from a rural area will then be made easier.
