Project Summary

Learn to learn easier is a method-oriental based project mapping not only problems of learning habits among pupils, but searching for causes and analysing links between teaching methods and pupils’ difficulties. The most risky and uphill part of project itinerary is that it needs enthusiastic self-knowledge and self-criticism of teaching staff, laying special emphasis on the fact not only pupils, but pedagogues are also responsible of learning results.
All the participants are ready to face defaults, problems; they look forward to change experiences and best practices, and ready to learn new alternative approaches to improve the level of education in their institute. The title of the project concerns 3 aspects of learning context: (1) finding ways / support services for making learning procedures easier for pupils (learn to learn easier) (2) mapping innovative solutions of more effective pedagogical methods for teachers (learn to teach easier) (3) developing pedagogical skills to facilitate the personal learning progress of pupils (learn to teach to learn easier).
Learning to learn for pupils and teachers in an international context refers both sides (donors and recipients) of education as partners, as equally required parts of a democratic, international educational process needs to be improved in order to develop the essential competences for the knowledge society by all, and to pay specific attention to those with any kind of educational disadvantage.

RATIONALE, SUBJECT AND LEARNING NEEDS ADDRESSED:
The problem addressed is the low achivement of basic skills among high percentage of students in school contexts. Decreasing learning results reveal not only missing abilities of students, but also the need of improving teaching methods. There is a strong need of developing soft skills, creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship through education; which woud show off aims and results of a learning process which lead somewhere reliable to real life, to employability and labour market. New teaching methods and ideas not just raise students’ motivation and teach them to use gained knowledge in practice, but also makes an understanding among teachers about the relationship between applied approaches and effective teaching results.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES:
The project develops materials and new methods designed to improve the success of personal learning progress. It increases students’ motivation, and makes learning more attractive with nonformal alternative pedagogical approaches based on pupils’ self-reflection, self-consciousness and self-esteem. Throughout the project, partners develop and try out an innovative methodology, involving also other, external participants of the learning progress, forming the educational context as a sort of open society, decreasing the gap between the social structures of real life and the school context – in order to help students – mostly come from disadvantaged social-economical background – to overcome general and usual learning difficulties; to establish a more familiar school environment, to improve the learning practice and to raise motivation for the learning process.

RESULTS, IMPACTS:
The objectives mentioned above are targeted through various methods providing different types of results:
1.) Input Research Questionnaires mapping pupils’ learning difficulties and their relations with teaching methods
2.) Human capacity research discovering possible participants of an enlarged, opened learning process.
3.) Learning-teaching activities for staff, introducing adaptable method for more effective learning outcomes, based on evaluated results of questionnaires and researches, using various types of training methods such as thematic seminars, workshops, lectures, research, round table discussions etc.
4.) Adopted Learning Circle Lessons in local school contexts examining the created methodology in practice
5.) Learning Progress Blog following learning outcomes of Learning Circles by the pupils themselves, based on their self-reflection, self-consciousness and self-esteem
6.) Demonstrating lessons introducing Learning Circle method for wider dissemination
7.) Learning Circle Tool Kit collecting results of questionnaires and research, introducing Learning Circle methodology, its lesson plans and its good practies
8.) Students’ exchanges deepen the knowledge and experiences gained throughout the project.

All these activities increase pupils’motivation for learning, improve their basic and transversial competences, decrease learning disparities of disadvantaged learners, and also develop self-expression and consciousness. The itinerary is based on intercultural dialogue between participants, respecting cultural diversity and related to basic values of the European Union. 3 schools participate in the project.
