Project Summary
This project was carried out by partners in 3 countries, Wales, Greece and Spain. The local authorities in Cardiff, Levadia and Murcia came together to take a strategic view to reinforce our education systems and to improve collaboration internally as well as with parents and other external stakeholders.
Our aim was to use this project to engage and widen the school communities and reinforce our response to the main challenges of today’s world by encouraging the local community to realise and own change. We have worked with schools to develop schools as a Learning and Thinking Hubs from which the wider community plays an important role in the educational standards of our young learners.
Our project has had 3 strands:
1 – Upskilling Teachers, Pupils and Engaging the Community
At the start of this project we upskilled teachers in effective project management and combined this with training for pupils in essential thinking skills such as Presentation, Communication, Management and IT. This led to planning for projects with the wider school community in each setting.
2- Developing Leaning & Thinking Together (LTT) schools.
Each participating school has engaged members of the community in pupil led training events aimed specifically at upskilling the wider community.
3 – Action Community Project
Project schools have work together with communities to put into play the actions they have deemed important and necessary for the wellbeing of pupils and residents in the local area.
The focus has been on the skills learned by pupils and the participating adults. The further embedding of activities within the LTT schools have opened the opportunity for the development of additional future projects ensuring sustainability.
