Project Summary
After a first collaboration in 2018, the determination to create a second, more ambitious project became obvious in both the teaching and management teams of our two institutions.
The theme of water, considered as a major issue in our territories (in Bygdoczsz with the Brda river, in Pornic with the Loire estuary), has emerged.
The project participants will be asked to produce a video documentary in bi-national teams in which they will explain the challenges of the presence of water in the territories of Bygdoczsz (Poland) and Pornic (France).
The project is organized over two school years: a total of four groups of students will work on this project. The first two groups of students will focus on the environmental aspect, while the second group will focus on the economic aspect. The final documentary will be a synthesis of the work of these two years.
The main objective of this multidisciplinary project is to discover and understand the geographical heritage of our territories from a historical, scientific, economic and artistic perspective. The second objective is to offer students an action-oriented approach to foreign language learning (the languages of communication are German and English), always in line with current European realities. Finally, our teams are strongly committed to fighting school failure or dropout, and are committed to offering students affected by these difficulties personalised follow-up so that they can be fully integrated into the project.
The students involved in the project are specialised in Biology/Chemistry (Polish group) and in History/Geography/Geopolitics (French group). The exchanges between the students, as well as the final productions, will be carried out in a foreign language: German or English. The skills must therefore intersect and be put at the service of the final project. Two groups of about thirty students are involved for each school.
The learning sequences will be based on the following model: preparatory work beforehand (individual and/or collective), discovery of an aspect of the territory concerned in association with members of the local associative, academic or civic community, and restitution/conceptualization work (individual and/or collective). The information, acquired and analysed, will always be used for the final production: the documentary.
The documentaries produced by the student teams will be presented at cultural events in our cities (for example, on the occasion of the Europe Day in Pornic). They will be broadcast on different channels: websites of our schools and screenings at the local cinema. The local press will also be invited to publish the results obtained by our students during their research. Meetings in our town halls are also planned so that project participants are able to present their collaborative work to local elected officials. Finally, the Pornic Twinning Association will be among the beneficiaries of the project insofar as our productions will be associated with the Twinning Festival.
Convinced that such a project will benefit each member of this partnership, we are very keen to propose this “Erasmus +” project as a fruitful collaboration between citizens of the European Union. Working in multi-national collaboration will be an opportunity for our students to acquire new skills in the targeted areas, but also to move towards an enlightened European citizenship that is eager for multiculturalism. Finally, we will pay particular attention to the inclusion of all members of this partnership, particularly students who are failing or dropping out of school.
Finally, we hope that this partnership will continue over time and that it will include new European teaching teams in the future.
