Project Summary
The people of all ages are affected by the negativities brought by the phenomenon of migration.They are exposed to lots of economic, social problems.These problems that may arise due to migration have affected the psychological structure of people.This situation can lead people to commit crime, theft, substance abuse,etc.However,the destructive effects of immigration are most felt on children.Children exposed to migration are also deprived of educational opportunities which is one of basic human rights.Inclusion of immigrant children in the education process is very different from normal children and much more critical.Especially, the effects of migration are more destructive on the children who have been exposed to migration in early childhood.These children are experiencing serious difficulties in integrating into society and teaching environments.The reasons for not continuing education or not at a higher level are not only economic reasons,but also they left school willingly. School dropout rate for economic reasons is 44%, while school dropout rate because of psychologic problems is 22%. It is a considerably rate.The remaining immigrant children are reluctant to go to school.Because of that, school success falls and motivation decreases of these children.This situation creates not only unsuccesful students,but also schools,cities and countries.
The main objective of Let Keep Them Dreaming in the direction of these problems is to provide a quality education to the children who are exposed to the migration by rehabilating them. The project aims to reduce the early schooling rate by 20% in two years, the academic achievement of migrant children will increase by 40%.
Purposes of the project:
• To contribute to the efficient use of education rights by immigrant children,
• To provide psychological support to children exposed to migration trauma,
• To support children’s hopes for the future,
• To share and exchange good practices in the subject in Europe
• To increase teachers ‘and administrators’ empowerment to fight discrimination
• To raise awareness of local community about
To reach these goals; 24 guidance teachers and 24 primary school teachers will attend LTT events in Gandia and in Milena. Teachers will be chosen from the schools where there are many refugee children. Willing to work, participating in dissemination activities, strong communication criteria will be sought. School visits will be done to see educational practices in Gandia and Mazzaroni. Teachers returning from training will inform other colleagues about education. Teacher training modulles and imaginative games will be created in LTTs.
Activities that will be implemented by all partner orgaznizations locally:
1. Each partner will determine and collabrate with schools (12 in total) having problems social exclusion, early school leaving
2. Children from selected schools will be included in the registration system in website to be created
3. A short film will be screened and shown to raise awareness in the local community
4. Refugee and immigrant children who do not go to school will be registered to schools
5. “Dream Trees” will be built in schools and children will write and hang their dreams
6. Immigrant children from partner countries will be brought together via facebook group
7. Schools will be brought together in eTwinning and supported to make projects
8. Non-competitive team games will be played in class and shared via eTwinning projects
9. Children will portray their dreams and an exhibition will be organized at schools by parents
10.Creative and imaginative games will be implemented in class
11.Teacher training modulles will be translated in partners countries’ language, bookleted and shared with schools
In the execution of the project collaborative approach will be followed. 3 TPMs and monthly online meetings will be held during the project.It will be everyone’s responsibility to manage the project to achieve the goals.It will ensure quicker resolution of problems through communication established by prioritizing team participation.
Finally,teachers will be able to see successful applications in Europe and increase their empowerment to fight discrimination.It will cause peaceful environemnt in the classroom.It will lead to convert the sense of exclusion into inclusion,to increase motivation to school, abstain from risky conditions.Children will have hope of future.It will motivate to succes.This will provide them a quality life.Tolerance for cultural differences will increase As the ultimate goal,children will grow up happily in a peaceful society.Equal opportunity will be provided in education.Rational, sustainable growth will be achieved with high-level employment, productivity and social cohesion at national and international level.
