Project Summary

Let’s Act for the Environment” project focuses on the exchange of good practices in learning, teaching and training in the field of sustainable development. Teachers and pupils from three schools will participate: PIERRE DE NOLHAC Highschool in France, IES ESKURTZE BHI in Spain, SCOALA GIMNAZIALA GRIGORE HAGIU in Romania.
These schools want to energize their sustainable development policy internally while providing an international opening to their teaching teams, students and their families. Through this project, students will increase their skills, culture and motivation through innovative learning activities and new technologies.
For their part, the teachers will enhance their professional know-how through the sharing of teaching methods and thus increase the motivation of their students. The completion of the activities will require transnational teamwork and communication in English.

These tasks will develop social, cultural and intercultural competences among the pupils and teachers involved in the project and a better knowledge of the partner countries and therefore a better grasp of the issues involved. These schools want to boost their sustainable development policy internally while at the same time bringing an international outlook to their teaching teams, pupils and their families. Through this project, pupils will increase their skills, general culture and motivation through innovative learning activities and new technologies. awareness of European citizenship and Europe.

The general objectives of the project are:
– Develop an ecological spirit, an attitude of respect towards the environment in order to give the possibility to find solutions to reduce pollution and find alternative energy sources,
– Improving e-skills, through concrete work,
– Develop fluency in language learning by communicating “for real “Communicate “for real”,
– Think, create and design in international teams (students and teachers) to deploy new work skills,
– Develop better self-esteem, be more responsible, more involved and more motivated to learn,
– Cultivate a spirit of tolerance and understanding to better work with people who are different from oneself,
– Foster open-mindedness to other cultures.

Partners will organize activities and events on sustainable development throughout the year. These will be local and transnational. In each school, teachers will analyse and discuss the progress of the project throughout the year using predefined indicators for project management. Local activities will be launched by each partner according to a predefined timetable in collaboration with the partners. The persons responsible for these local activities are the project coordinators at the institution. Depending on the nature of the activity, other teachers and/or staff of the school will be involved in its implementation.
Here is the list:
– a study on the carbon footprint of each school’s waste recycling to be compared on the eTwinning platform
– a study on the surrounding biodiversity, to be compared with the partners (e.g. are there shelter structures for insects and bees?).
– an interview with the city council services on urban policy, to be compared on the eTwinning platform
– a video conference on Christmas traditions
– an exhibition on famous people involved in sustainable development, displayed in the corridors of the establishment.
– an exhibition on biodiversity
– the organisation of a “waste recycling” challenge within the school with the other volunteer classes.

The expected results are:
– active involvement of pupils and adults in each school in sustainable development,
– a firm commitment by each establishment to create a sustainable development policy,
– an ease for all in communicating in English,
– greater self-confidence,
– a desire to open up to the world,
– an awareness of European citizenship.

This Erasmus+ project on sustainable development will create a dynamic in the school while making Europe present and alive in the daily lives of staff and schoolchildren and their families. It will help to develop new teaching initiatives and pupils will have acquired self-confidence, autonomy and greater fluency in speaking a foreign language.
