Project Summary
Let’s Build Bridges Together
The reference context of our partnership was made up by three countries, Poland, Romania and Ital, with different customs and peculiarities, even if they also have similarities in some aspects, so this transnational project has been an occasion to broaden our cultural, human, social horizons, thanks to the meeting and the dialogue among these cultures.
The project involved our 10-12 year old students with attractive, innovative and motivating activities, such as virtual classes, workshops and laboratories, in order to achieve all the same main objective of the project and to build bridges among different people. By working together students discovered the differences and the similarities, among the three countries.
We involved not only students, but also families and whole communities, also the Polish and Romanian ones in our territory, by spreading this message of solidarity and intercultural society, showing them the possible coexistence among different cultures, thus defeating all those policies that aim to create ideas of populism.
We have brought our students to reflect on the fact that each of us is similar in some aspects and simultaneously different in others, we have promoted an active and constructive dialogue among our own culture and those of other countries and we have also brought them to see in this dialogue a way to grow, to get richer, to open up a dimension of development and progress.
By achieving these key citizenship skills, they have also developed transversal competences, such as learning foreign languages, improving the ICT skills, developing their creativity, their ability to think critically, taking initiative, problem solving and working collaboratively;
The project followed three steps in its implementation:
1- Beyond our borders
A useful activity, in order to give our students the possibility to “know” other partners’ countries, with all their peculiarities, history, culture, traditions, territory, sport, music, free time and language. It was implemented on the eTwinning platform, where we have created virtual classes, made up of Romanian, Italian and Polish students, and where they posted their own multimedia works, about the three countries.
It has been a first step to go beyond our borders,to start a fraternal dialogue, to break down the stereotypes and the sociotypes.
2 – Let’s Build Bridges:
Through a “writing laboratory” and the creation of poetries, slogans and also the script of a musical “Bridges of Friendship” the students have cooperated, made direct experience of learning and planning together. This activity let them reflect on the importance of being European citizens, by developing concepts of tolerance, integration, diversity acceptance, cooperation, solidarity.
3 – We play together
Before and during the three student’s mobilities, we have worked together to a final show, where we have acted, danced and sung all together, using our project’s outputs (the musical, and our typical popular dances-from each country). In each mobility we performed some parts of the finial show, performing, also, the popular dances of each country. The final show took place in the last mobility, and it acquired a socio-cultural touch by adding new artistic and cultural items from each country.
Through this project we got an amazing exchange of experiences, good practices and information on integration to put into practice, involving not only students, but also families, whole communities, spreading this message of solidarity and intercultural society and letting them achieve a new view, attitude towards “others”.
The results will remain long-term available, as they are to be intended as the acquisition of good practices in the daily life, being aware of living in an intercultural society, where integration is the unique way to live friendly, without any kind of prejudice.
