Project Summary

All the teachers we are are convinced of the interest of developing international and educational collaboration around themes that are important for our students and that affect the richness of our local specificities in terms of terroirs and the environment.
In school, linguistic and cultural exchanges, students are more aware than ever of the notion of sharing experiences. The key to success is more than ever the motivation and need to make people discover and appreciate their culture and lands with the same pleasure as they have been able to do in another country.

The objective of such a project is obviously the linguistic, cultural and human exchange around a common work on our terroirs.
The different terroirs of the Mediterranean basin have brought us together around an economic, social and cultural activity that is fundamental to our regions. Despite the difference in these activities in the two countries of Spain and France, they bring us together in many ways.

More than commercial and economic activities, oenology and oleology are for our regions and for those who live there, true cultures.
This exchange should allow the invitation to discover, promote and exchange experience around our local specificities: Bordeaux and its oenological culture, Spain and its art of olive oil production.

Each establishment will have access to a guided tour of the production of local products “from seed to plate or glass” by visiting companies and cooperatives specific to each production, such as the Olive Oil Museum in Baeza (Andalusia) or the Fuente Peña cooperative in Jaén (Andalusia).

Thus, the French will be able to discover the links and differences between olive oil production in Andalusia and the wine making process.
The Spanish students will be able to prepare an exhibition work on this theme in order to complete the proposed visits.
Finally, as the Spanish establishment has its own olive grove, it will be proposed to French students to discover different workshops related to the different stages of production from the tree to the bottling.

On the other hand, French students will offer Spanish students research and exhibition work on wine making processes, with the help of visits to various Châteaux and wine-growing owners in the region. (Château Saint Georges Saint Emilion, Château Beychevelle Saint Julien Médoc, Chateau Lynchbages…).

At the same time, work will be developed on the theme of the environment and the recycling of waste from oil and wine production.

The students concerned will hold an exhibition on the specificities of their region as well as on the discoveries they have made in the different countries visited. They will produce photo and video reports with commentary on their stays in collaboration with their correspondents.
A final presentation in the form of an exhibition could give rise to a convivial event that will bring together in each school the actors of the exchange at the local level: parents of students, educational teams, headteachers and companies that have contributed to the achievement of the students’ work.
This work will be able to shine in all the establishments as well as in the respective regional presses which, as they have always done, will be the relay of this wonderful adventure and will carry outside the borders of the respective establishments, the fruit of a precious international collaboration.
Finally, a common blog for the two countries will be able to present a summary of the project developed by all the students and teachers who participated.
