Project Summary

“Let’s explore Europe – Together We Are One” – with the help of this partnership teachers and other staff of all our schools have been working together and learned from one another to make learning more meaningful. During the partnership many of our pupils realised that they can reach high if they take charge of their own future. Early school leaving is no longer an option. By building strong networks between children from different backgrounds from all over Europe and through the inclusion of every single child we could prove that nobody is left alone with his or her problems and that everyone in this partnership is able to help someone being successful. We are proud that we could spread a feeling to be proud of the shared success not only for the participating children but also for their parents and and teachers. We included not only pupils with special educational needs but children from the full range of human diversity with respect to ability, language, culture, gender, age and of other forms of human differences. We all could see that using the strengths of the individual to strengthen the community helped both – the individual person and the whole partnership. Furthermore the aim of our Project was to develop greater understanding and respect between partner schools from a range of European countries. We could reach this aim through the exploration of our different traditions, cultures, value systems and views of our world. We explored similarities and differences within both aesthetic and intellectual knowledge areas including language, the curriculum and the use of up to date communication technologies. Together our schools came to a common understanding of the European and global dimension of citizenship, through project plans and meetings. Our focus was the exploration of our various positions on the European map. Together we could find those links that unify us. In that way we were able to overcome former perspectives and entrenched views. Children and staff from all our schools definitely built strong communication links with our partner schools and their pupils. They have been working together enthusiastically in many different ways. The pupil-exchange, which was new to all the partner schools, enriched our partnership enormously. Throughout the three-year project we communicated through a range of technologies, including video conferencing, e-mail links, shared bulletins and project visits. Families who were taking part in the pupil exchange program built strong links through the use of a variety of social media. The communication between the teachers and coordinators of all five schools was frequent and effectively. Therefore, the title of our project “Let’s explore Europe – Together We Are One” is no longer a vision but a reality for all our partnership schools.
