Project Summary
The project Let’s Share What We Are Good At innolves teachers and pupils from three comprehensive schools in the Czech Republic, slovakia and Poland. The aim of the project is to introduce the participants to the strenghts of their school and country and let them present these qualities to the visitors via various workshops and activities. Children with their teachers will travel to the participant countries and they will cooperate on prepared tasks during each of the visits. We will meet only once in each country with the pupils. The coordinator school has some experiences with KA2 projects while the others schools participate for the first time. We are all enthusiastic about taking part in the project and willing to learn and share our skills and experiences as each of the school has unique approach and has much to offer.
There will be two teachers travelling from each school and seven pupils, so there will come 18 visitors to every school that will host their part of the project. Additionally, there will be a group of home participants who will create the background of the workshops and take care of our foreign guests. The children will be accommodated in host families to learn as much as possible about the country they visit and to practice their language skills too. The workshops will take place at the host schools, sport clubs and close environment with few planned trips to visit landmarks.
The activities we plan to work on are: dubbing a Czech fairytale into the participant languages with phonetics transcription workshop, playing sports together, cooperation on how to make our schools more green and eco-friendly, studying Slovak folk culture with focus on folk costumes and embroidery with various workshops and presentations on making the costumes.
We believe the children will improve and practice their communivćation and organizational skills, they will develop ability to share and recieve knowledge and cooperate to achieve a goal together. They will learnhe fields of crafts, ecology, communication and sports. We also hope they will learn to appreciate their own culture and uniqueness of diversity, which still can be found in European cultures. We are sure thge participants will also build friendships and will keep in touch even after the project will have finished.
The methods that are going to be used are: peer teaching, communicative approach, CLIL, Total Physical Response.
The expected results are: questionnaires (that will have been distributed before and after the project to help us evaluate the results and progress), presentations and posters on the project, travel diaries (to collect various information and memorabilia during the travels), CLIL lesson plans, setting up a vegetable patch at schools, calculation of carbon footprint of the students, building musical instruments from recyclable materials, fashion from trash, traditional dish made of regional products, itineraries of the trips, videos from the workshops, eco-passports, dubbing scripts and translations, pieces of decorated fabric from the crafts workshops, drawings and photos of the folk costumes and ornaments, short educative play’s scripts.
We hope the prject will have impact not only on the participants directly involved but also on their families, friends, colleagues and peers and will help to raise awereness of the local inhabitants about their schools and education level. It can inspire other teachers to try a similar cooperation as well, therefore, after the project, we would like to share the outcomes and our experiences via seminars and meetings with parents and school partners and dissolve the information about the project in local media and our school webs.
