Project Summary

Our project Let`s Talk about Science deals with the subjects which all schools in our partnership perceive as necessary on the basis of the external exam results of September 2017. Our partnership consists of 4 countries: Poland, Spain, Italy and Bulgaria. The exam results made us aware that our students need to improve their skills in maths, science and languages and we decided that the best way to encourage them to learn these subjects is making the international project in which we will work on these subjects in attractive way, learning, working and having fun. Three of our schools need to improve maths and scientific skills ( Poland, Italy and Spain) and the Bulgarian school is an expert at this area as its students achieve successes in maths and science. However, the Bulgarian school needs support in learning English and foreign lanuages and Spanish school is an expert this time. However, the Italian and Polish schools have also some successes in teaching languages. Two primary schools and two secondary schools will make the added value of the project because we will be able to exchange the practice and experiences. The project is divided into small topics which put in order the knowledge we want our students to gain during the project life-cycle. The topics are as follows: Let`s Talk to Each Other at the first L/T/T in Poland when we get to know each other, divide the tasks, show the ways we teach maths, science and languages with active training methods and the students design a logo and a mascot of the project. Students make kahoot`s quizzes about Częstochowa, Polish school home town and the students tell their ideas how they want to learn about science. They prepare a glossary to be used at all L/T/T. Then we prepare some slideshows about Geography of my region, Phisics around us, Fuana and Flora in my region and make some chemical experiments to prepare for the L/T/T in Spain. There the topic is: Let`s Talk about Nature and we will focus on what we have learnt between the meetings, then we will learn about Spanish flora and fauna comparing it to our local environment and to the info found on Internet, students will make the glossary about the subject and a board game on fauna and flora in all project countries. The participants will have a trip to a plant or an animal farm and then make a photoreportage of it. We will attend the foreign language lessons and discuss the methods of teaching them. After the meeting at each school there will be the kahoot`s quizzes competition and on the same day the international videoconference competition for the winners of kahoot`s quizzes to check what the students know after the first year of the project. During the break between the meetings, the students will grow their local plant and make the slideshow or a film about its growth to show it at the next meeting together with the slideshow about Ecology in my country. The next L/T/T in Italy will have the topic: Let`s Talk about Ecology. The students will present their works, discuss them. The students will prepare a board game about ecology and recycling and they will have the trip to a place where they can see the recycling process of water, paper or sewage. Later they will compare what they have seen to what they have in their own countries. Finally, they will prepare in international teams a photoreportage of the trip. We will take part in the lessons of maths, science, ecology and languages with active training methods. Between the meetings the students will prepare the topic: Science in everyday life- is it worth learning? and they will work on kahoot`s quizzes of maths and English. The kahoot`s quizzes will be prepared on the basis of the tests results of Maths and English made at each school in September 2019 to fill the gaps in students` knowledge. The students will learn how to make geometric figures out of paper. At the L/T/T in Bulgaria entitled: Let`s Talk about Maths the students will present their works, tell the impressions about kahoot`s quizzes and make a common building out of paper geometric figures with the photoreportage of the construction with comments in English. Students will prepare mathematical board games on two levels: for a primary and a secondary school to play at home. We will attend the lessons of maths and science and see the facilities the school has. We will discuss the methods of teaching maths and science with success.
There will be one L/T/T in March 2019 only for teachers because they need to discuss some effective methods of teaching science, maths and languages. They will exchange the practice and experiences because the meeting is in the first part of the project so we will still have time to take into consideration the ideas students have about the methods of teaching and learning they need. The role of the students is crucial for us and they will always take part in decision making process. We hope to realize our aims within the partnership.
