Project Summary

Project „Leaders in minority organizations. Upgrading the standards of functioning youth organizations “Leaders in a minority organization. Raising the standards of activity of the organizations that work on behalf of the mobilization of young representatives of Polish communities” was a joint initiative of four organizations from four EU countries: Poland, Iceland, Hungary and Scotland. Organizations were founded by Polish migrants, working with local Polonia, with particular emphasis on young people. As part of the project, the School for Leaders Foundation invited Polonia organizations lead by Graduates of their programs. The main aim of the project was to increase the potential of Polonia organizations active in the field of civic education of young Poles in EU countries through the exchange of good practices, joint training of their personnel and the development of new solutions supporting their work. The specific aim of the project was to create new tools for youth work and increase civic participation in society. The activities of the project caused spread of information about the work of Polonia organizations engaged in civic education and informal youth education. Within the project three 6-day training sessions and four management meetings took place. During the project 3 publicly available publications were created, focused about: a) diagnosis of the local Polonia community b) development of a strategy for the development and management of the Polish community c) innovative methods of engaging and activating Polonia youth in civic education. In addition, a dissemination seminar was organized within the framework of the project, which gathered more than 50 representatives of non-governmental organizations from Poland and other European countries. The project helped to develop tools to strengthen the capacity and professionalism of Polonia organizations, which is the result of well-executed diagnostic processes, strategic planning and the implementation of innovative tools for involving young people in public life.
