Project Summary
The Project proposes the facilitation of the experience exchange and the development of some common methods for improving the institutional ability of the partners to involve pupils and parents in ecological and recycling activities, to form to them pro-ecological behavior, to help parents understand the integral role outdoor time plays in the health and well-being of our kids and our environment and help them find new ways to make children play and learn outdoors. It also aims to raise the level of the education of the teachers taking part in the project through gaining and sharing the experience, learning new methods and techniques and making them use the different approaches in education. We’ll help our children to discover by themselves the importance of recycling and incite them, encourage them to take concrete initiatives in their everyday life. This project can give children a chance to use their imagination to design products that do not harm the environment or increase waste. The education for environmental protection is considered a priority of the European states policies, but it is also an important need of the institutions involved in the project.
The target group of the project consists of 60 teachers and 500 children enrolled in six partner institutions and their parents. The project’s corporation is made up of the following partners:
– Gradinita cu Program Prelungit “Floarea Soarelui”, Romania – coordinator
– Create Partnership Trust, UK
– Kindergarten “Ivanic Grad”, Croatia
– Istituto Comprensivo Orsino Orsini, Italy
– Gorukle Aksemsettin ILKOKULU, Turkey
– Timi Public Kindergarten,Cyprus
In order to achieve the project’s goals we’ll organize activities such as games, exhibitions, artistic and knowledge contests, experiments, trips, meeting with specialists, field researches, sports competitions which will use recycled objects and will be integrated in the school activities, outdoors ecological activities. The activities and the theme of the project will be developed within all the school subjects. The activities will use recyclable materials and will aim to share environmental knowledge, to discover the fact that ecology and environmental protection can be fun and can be integrated in a great number of activities. The pupils will be involved into researches, visits and will draw the conclusions which are essential. The project activities will be divided during the two years of the project as it follows:
-in the first year we are going to approach the following themes: environment factors: water, air, soil; energy and household waste recycling; and the living world: forest, animals, vegetation. The children will acquire the necessary knowledge for a better understanding of the secrets of nature, of the way nature works and what we should to protect it.
-in the second year we are going to plan a series of outdoor ecological activities, trips and sports competition. In order to consolidate the information acquired during the first year and to form lifelong habits, we are going to organize activities to celebrate the main Environmental Events in the Global Eco Calendar.
Different training activities for the teachers (webinars, workshops, attending activities carried on by the project partners, training courses) will help them enrich their knowledge, show them a new perspective of modern ways of teaching and improve the strategies they have used until now.
The achieved results will be:
-the project website
-“Erasmus corner” in each school
-project logo
-multilingual dictionary for children
-postcards/decorations on a typical tradition of the country from recyclable materials
-exhibitions organized in the partner institutions/ public institutions
-theater performances, sports competitions and contests based on or using recycled objects
-an eco-calendar displaying aspects of project activities
-a best-practice manual with outdoor ecological games and successful activities organized for celebrating Environmental Events from the Global Eco Calendar
-didactic materials from recycled objects
-Methodological Guide “My Recycling Factory”which will contain the materials, methods and techniques applied in manufacturing toys, crafts and didactic materials necessary for implementing the proposed activities.
-6 brochures for parents
The participation in the project will contribute to the development of the involved schools in all levels: children and parents, teachers, institutional ability, on a long term as we intend to continue implementing the best practice activities gained during the project. The methodological guide and the best practice manual, as didactic auxiliaries, will guide our future activity. We plan to continue taking care of the garden made during the project and to keep improving the playground with recyclable elements. The project’s results will remain available on the project website and eTwinning and anyone interested will have free access.
