Project Summary
The project “Łódź and Lyon in search of cultural heritage” was made with the cooperation of Primary School No116 in Łódź and the Cité Scolaire Internationale in Lyon under Erasmus + action 2:strategic partnerships- cooperation of schools. The project was attended by 16 students of 7th and 8th grade bilingual French class with 2 teachers and 16 students of the Polish section along with 2 teachers. The project refers to the cultural heritage of France and Poland with particular reference to Łódź and Lyon which are twinned since 1991.The completed objectives of this project are: development of knowledge about the cultural heritage of France and Poland, improvement of language competence among students and teachers of both schools, strengthening motivation to learning French and Polish, the increase in the ability to work with ICT among students and teachers of both schools, the development of cultural tolerance and ability to work in the international group, improvement of the image of the bilingual French class and Polish section of students, the development of both partner schools in the European dimension, the acquisition of knowledge in the field of education systems in France and Poland, the development of twinning in the area of education. To achieve the objectives, the project included virtual, local and international activities. Virtual activities took place on the jointly established website, on eTwinning platform, where all initiatives related to the project were published. Local activities were related to initiatives taken at both schools for example participation in the Days of Francophoni or other literary and graphic contests. International activities were related to mutual mobility of students and teachers, during which educational classes and workshop were scheduled in order to expand knowledge about cultural heritage. The methodology used in the project includes multimedia activities, working in groups, observation, creative activities performed during the educational workshops. The project was expected to get the tangible and intangible results. Tangible results include guides to the cultural heritage of Lyon and Łódź, calendars for the year 2022 – with historical monuments of Łódź and Lyon, a website on e Twinning platform where project activities are presented. Intangible results are: the growth of language and digital competence among students and teachers of both schools, increase of knowledge about Polish and French cultural heritage and the educational systems in both countries, increase in motivation to learn foreign languages, the image enhancement of French bilingual class and students of the Polish section, the increase of the level of cultural tolerance and ability to work in the international group, strengthening the European dimension in partner schools, the incorporation of good practices in everyday activities, enhancing collaboration between partner schools in Lyon and Łódź. The implementation of the project has a significant impact on students and teachers of both schools and on the image of the institutions themselves. This effect refers to: acquiring knowledge about cultural heritage, growth of language and digital competence, a better understanding of the social, cultural and linguistic diversity, increasing of the ability to work in the international group, establishing contacts and possibly friendship with their peers in another country, gaining knowledge about the educational systems in France and Poland, increase of motivation to work and job satisfaction, the promotion of French bilingual class students and students in Polish section, establishing cooperation with the partner school, strengthening cooperation between the twin cities within the school education. After the completion of a project, teachers of both schools are able to use the knowledge gained during the project in their everyday work and they demonstrate better communication in foreign languages. The students of both schools, who were involved in the project are able to use better language and digital skills and a greater knowledge of the cultural heritage of France and Poland, which certainly improves the learning results ,while the calendars are a memory of the nice days spent in the company of the peers from partner schools throughout the year. The project was a benefit to the rest of the community of both schools ,as cultural heritage guides are available in school libraries to borrow by interested students and teachers.
