Project Summary
With this project we wanted to create a new online tool which can be actively used in human rights education. Our aim was to amid youth work entering digital dimension by creating an educational instrument like – badging system for human rights education. We believe young people should be approached locally by youth centers and youth organizations, thus our aim was to give capacities to them (inscribed in CoE Charter on Education for Citizenship and Human Rights Education) by training the youth workers as trainers for human rights education who uses creative expression, arts, non-formal education and informal learning as a tool to empower youth and embrace them to human rights to transform the society. This project has strongly interconnected parts which starts with a civil society fellowship in Finland and Bulgaria to examine and observe the youth work conducted in Finland and Bukgaria with a strong focus on human rights education. The fellows will afterwards meet each other on training to come on the common ground on human rights education by receiving the TOT-HRE elements; After this a CBA will be created to create a new method in a youth work – “Human Rights Ambassador Badge”. This is an instrument which combines human rights education, arts and digital badges. The youth exchanges used this instrument to educate about the human rights. Afterwards, the local activities was conducted to adapt and test the instrument to a local and national context. The CBA – on exchanging practices gave chance to share the experiences from the local work and give space for changes if it was needed. This phase also gave space to follow-up project to elongate the impact; The CBA – information and awareness campaign were following our dissemination plan to create visual identity, booklets, and what is the most important, the manual for the human rights educators who are willing to pursue using the method. The project specifically targets the public institutions, because one of the biggest issues considering the human rights education in nowadays Europe is a lack of cross-sectorial cooperation, lack of political willingness and competence to initiate EDC/HRE at schools. On the other hand there are youth and civil non-governmental organisations who hold a tremendous competencies in EDC/HRE but no means to access young people. Therefore, involving youth workers, teachers, ministry and municipality representatives is a very important aspect of the project. They will be represented at each stage of this project.Having this project and creating new innovative methodology in youth work, supporting its entrance to a digital world will have a considerable impact on the local, national and international levels.
