Project Summary
The main objective of the project was to develop a comic book as a new form of training material for learning and developing mathematical competence of adults, regardless of their age or level of education. The idea of the project was to improve and expand learning opportunities tailored to the individual needs of adults with low mathematical skills, taking into account the principles of teaching adults and referring to their everyday life experiences. We wanted to break the stereotype of a boring and incomprehensible textbook for learning mathematics, which was supposed to motivate adults to learn mathematics through informal education.
The second important aspect of the project was to provide a new educational tool for educators, facilitating the overcoming of resistance and prejudice against mathematics as a difficult and incomprehensible subject, by referring to examples and experiences from everyday life in the use of mathematical competence.
The project in connection with the lock downs also translated into the development of digital competence, especially the use of Internet communication technology, but also to acquire skills such as preparing storyboards to design the visual part of the training for adults.
The participants of the project were:
– adults with low mathematical competence,
– Adult educators, conducting training in mathematics, household budget management, finance in everyday life.
