Project Summary
The European Union and its member states stress the importance of promoting and assessing transversal skills, such as entrepreneurship and digital competences. Secondary schools are critical to success in this strategy in which an efficient use of ICT is critical. ‘MOTIVA. Developing digital entrepreneurship and digital competences contributes to these goals by posing the following aims:
– Fostering cross-curricular development of entrepreneurship and digitial competences by innovative ICT-based learning approaches,
– Improving students motivation.
– Promoting ICT and entrepreneurship teachers skills.
– Improving ICT implementation efficiency and access to OER
To achieve these objectives, a partnership made up of 6 partner organizations is established. The project is led by the Technical University of Cartagena (Spain) and it works together with the following partners: University of Murcia (Spain), a higher education institution; Platon (Greece), a private high school; Istituto Comprensivo Statale di Paese (Italy), a public high school; PONTOn vzm (Belgium), a non-governmental organisation focused on education; and CEEIC (Spain) a business and entrepreneurship centre. Within this project, different activities have been carried out:
– Study on teachers’ needs in the fields of entrepreneurial skills and use of ICT to improve students’ learning experience.
– Development of an electronic learning platform for secondary schools.
– Development of learning activities to promote the selected skills that fit e-platform’s technical features.
– Pilot programme to test, assess and refine the learning platform and its contents.
– Training seminars for teachers in charge of implementing the pilot program with specific contents on digital and entrepreneurial skills.(first real test and trial of the e-learnin MOTIVA platform)
– E-platform user’s guide for teachers.
– Dissemination events in Spain, Belgium and Greece to broaden the impact of MOTIVA and extend the use of the e-platform in the long term.
– Report for policymakers and their influencers to foster entrepreneurial skills and digital compentence in their agendas.
As a result of the activities and outputs mentioned above, students improved their engagement and their entrepreneurial skills and digital competences. Teachers improved their abilities to implement innovative ICT- based methodologies in the classroom and they had the chance of implementing best practices and innovative approaches to develop and assess transversal skills. In the long term, students are expected to improve their motivation and performance and also to gain and strengthen skills needed for labour market and citizenship. Teachers have a flexible and friendly e-learning platform to make ICT-based methodologies easy to be adopted in every subject on a daily basis. Moreover, they have means to standardize the implementation and measurement of students’ progress in entrepreneurship and ICT skills.
