Project Summary
Today, increase usage of internet especially among young people ,the rapid advancement of ICT and technological developments have dragged young people to a virtual world ‘by removing them from the elements comprising their cultural identity. In fact, they have avoided building real social relationship with their families, friends and the other people. They have imprisoned themselves in their own world. We made our students familirized with their own cultural values and traditional handcrafts firstly, and then made them to become aware of other European traditional handcrafts. We drew them to real social enviroments with workshops during the project,so theybecame more social, communicative and self-confident individuals. Our participants will realize the comman points comprising the cultural identity of a nation with other cultures, especially in the area of traditional handcrafts. So,they will discover the joy of living together instead of ignoring them.
The rapid growth of the mass productions meeting consumer demands more effectively have prevented the existence of handcrafts in communities. However ,this case causes the extinction of aesthetic perspectives. Our students’manual skills and their aesthetic perspectives will have been improved while they are rubbing elbows with eachother’s cultural values. Our project will lead to create new working areas by bringing handcrafts into the forefront as an alternative and infact as a rival to mass production.Rising the rate of transition to higher education that is one of the major aim of EU 2020 Growth Strategies will have been supported by routing our students to handcrafts departments in universties
In our globising world, our students coming from different ethnic groups have changeable problems related to social and academic succes with their friends, familes and teachers that mostly stem from the inability of setting up empathy with eachother and other cultures.Compliance problems of them are supposed to be worked out by combining them eachother with several project activities such as workshops. The sense of responsibility, working within discipline, focusing on,solution and product oriented approaches which are very crucial for life success will have been acquired by our students.
*We know that the greatest challege for the success isn’t genetics, but it’s the lack of social inclusion.
Our target groups are firstly our own teachers, students, parents ,and then our partners’teachers, students, parents and various institutions, organizations, and the citiziens of all partner countries.
We aim to create ‘Great World Culture’ by keeping tradional handcrafts alive and transfering them to new generations and meeting our participants on a common ground that can also be considered as cultural bridge among them. So,our target group will have been encouraged to be European citizen by overcoming linguistic and cultural obstacles.
