Project Summary

15- 20 years ago children used to play in the streets with their friends, make their own toys and thus when they came home in the evenings they used to go to bed peacefully and happily. They were sociable, active and creative. Recently with the technological improvements in our lives and the increase of the number in working mothers, kids stopped spending time outside playing with their friends and began to get addicted to smart phones, tablets and laptops. These Improvements in technology and technological devices became a piece of our lives recently. As these improvements have positive sides, we see that they have many negative effects either. An illness called Hikikomori means ‘a person who isolates himself/herself from society’ in Japanese language. This illness is is known as 21st century illness and it has become widespread all over the world. This addiction caused to rise a generation called APP generation and if it is not brought under control, it will reach to dangerous levels. Thus we aim to fend off the youngers from this addiction by means of our Erasmus+ KA 229 project called ‘My Grandmother’s Toys’ that we will carry out with our partners in 2019/2021 period. As it is among the Erasmus 2020 Targets to gain skills and strengthen people’s self improvement without considering their ages and educational backgrounds, we want to exchange knowledge about traditional games and toys primarily by gathering children and adults together within the context of our project. So we want to enable to develop the communication between children and adults and decrease the generation gap. We will provide the two group come together and prepare traditional games and toys in the skill and design ateliers or in eventide homes. In this way, our elder people feel productive, our childrend’s handicraft will progress and our children will become socialized. When our children make their toys themselves, their self confidence will increase and as they contribute to family budget, they will feel beneficial. There will be five mobilities with our partners from Italy, Portugal, Romania, Bulgaria and Spain and 2 teachers and 4 learners will attend from each country. All the activities will progress as stated in the timetable. In these LTT activities, from each school there will be four students who are between 11-14 years old and have been involved the previous projects, are eager to work, embraced and wanted to develop the project, and have sufficient english level, two teachers who are aware of the importance of toys and games in reducing the technolgical addiction; there will be 30 paricipants in total. In these activities every partner country wil teach their own countries’ games and toys to other participants. During the LTTAs toys like tornets, mangala, catapult and dolls will be made by the students and every country will represent their traditional toys and games. With the tournaments, participants will be able to get to know diffrerent cultures and take a step with Europeanisation. During these mobilities by exchanging knowledge with our partners we aim our students to develop their communication, social and language skills and raise students who have European vision. Also thanks to these mobilities teachers by preparing innovative learning and education atmosphere, using games and toys as course materials and helping the children learn by living will be able to produce creative ideas. Our partners are compatible to cooparate , creative and open to improvement schools. We chose our partners considering their previous studies and their desire to dissemination of the Project from the beginning to the end , we thought them as the most convenient schools we could cooperate.. We have found our partners communicating with online platforms such as e-Twinning partner forums and facebook . With the help of our Project’s Web page , YouTube channel, Facebook, Twitter,Instagram , web pages of schools, social media devices and press; our project will have a great amount of impact around the country and international platform. Every partner will develop activities such as exhibitions, festivals and contests in the course of the Project and afterwards in the future we plan to provide permanent impact. In this context every country by conventionalising traditional toys and games contests in their own national feasts will create awareness. All the partners are planning to go on with a new e-Twinning Project about this subject. All the study about the project will be added step by step in the strategic plans of all the partner schools and clubs will be formed to support skill and design ateliers that will be founded at schools.
