Project Summary
The project MI CIUDAD ES TU CIUDAD – WELCOME TO MY CITY is part of the long tradition of twinning between the cities of Suances (Cantabria – Spain) and Bassens (Gironde – France), and the cooperation between their Schools and colleges. In addition to this history, our project is based on an innovative inter-degree approach, associating elementary and secondary schools in Bassens, and the vision of the Colegio Portus Blendium of Suances which has an additional age class compared to the French school system. The project will therefore involve pupils from CM2 (10/11), 6th and 6th equivalent to Suances and 5th (11/12), chosen for their motivation and involvement, including children with fewer opportunities.
The objective is to give sense to the exchange and relations between students and teachers in both countries, working around :
– the acquisition and assessment of basic skills in a cross-degree transition, including students in difficulty and with fewer opportunities whose inclusion is a priority,
– the use of digital tools to fight against digital illiteracy, via an innovative and attractive pedagogy based on the European cultural heritage under the prism of the knowledge of the “local” heritage of our cities, common heritage and differences between our communities.
The actions will be led by the representatives of the schools around the theme of European heritage, through concrete activities: including treasure hunts and courses in cities, developed by students supervised by their teachers (and municipal employees), to discover the “local” heritage of the towns of Bassens and Suances, but also of our local public services (educational system …), activities and emblematic places of our daily life. The virtual exchanges via Etwinning (for which designated referents will be formed within each partner) will complete and prepare the physical mobilities.
The expected results are of several types:
– for pupils, the acquisition and development of cultural, social, civic, but also linguistic (through the concrete use of language) and scientific skills; autonomy and self-esteem through the planning of tasks, fluency in the written and spoken language, initiative … skills that can be recognized by the deliverance of Europass certifications.
– for staff, two training activities are planned, according to the objectives of skills development, their evaluation in an inclusive perspective. The use of digital tools and Etwinning in particular will be promoted and widely disseminated, through the perspective of European heritage, for an attractive and innovative pedagogical progression. External perspectives, between degrees, between countries, between school, institutions and external partners (municipalities in particular) will be a source of rich cooperations and innovative practices.
– For the schools, the aim is to build a true European dimension, but also to encourage the emergence of new tools (digital, new standards) and new pedagogical practices.
More generally, in line with twinning, this project aims to renew the strong links between the Bassens and Suances communities, and to place education and children at the heart of the common heritage that we share, without any discrimination related to the degree, the socio-economic context, the disability or any other cause. With the civic, social and intercultural skills that this project will enable our pupils to acquire, they will be the architects of our future cooperation.
