Project Summary
In the project “Teaching and learning with ICT” financed from the EU funds which took place between 2016-2018, the following five public secondary schools were involved:
– the 4th Vocational School of Heraklion in Crete, Greece,
– Gülşehir Anadolu Lisesi in Turkey,
– Stredná odborná škola elektrotechnická in Trnava, Slovakia,
– SZMSZC Klapka György Technical and Vocational School in Jaszbereny, Hungary
– The Gustaw Gizewiusz Second High School in Giżycko, Poland.
In each of the five mobilities participated pupils and teachers from visiting schools and the host school community.
The main goal was to implement an innovative teaching approach through the functional use of ICT applications for lessons and to introduce attractive methods based on new technology: work in the cloud, workshops of computer programs, creating teaching materials for lessons, trips to ICT companies.
We have completed a lot of trainings during the project:
– Edmodo training – for communication in the cloud between students, teachers and parents,
– Google training – we created a common virtual space on google disk for the needs of the project, i.e. a basic communication tool which enabled us to analyze the current project results and activities in school ICT clubs,
– mozaBook – software for interactive whiteboards,
– Prezi Tool – a tool for creating online presentations,
– ProShow Gold – a graphic program for creating a slide show,
– Kahoot – a quiz for Mathematics and Science using a mobile version of this application,
– GeoGebra – a program supporting teaching Mathematics,
– Photomath – application for Mathematics,
– Sky map – an astronomical application for observing the sky, stars and planets,
– Antropi Teach – for interactive boards,
– EduPage – creating and publishing websites,
– Animoto – making fast and professional presentations,
– Wordle Web 2.0 – creating word clouds,
And took part in didactic trips to ICT companies:
– CommonsLab Makerspace, Greece – open technologies, models in 3D printing technology and their applications
– ATA Bilgisayar & Güvenlik, Turkey – programming techniques in C ++, php, java, css and their practical use in creating websites,
– LLARIK, Slovakia – IT systems,
– KÁTA, Hungary – programming CNC machines,
– Alnea, Poland – innovation, robotization and automation of production, technologically advanced robots and the job of programmers
We conducted demonstration lessons using ICT applications:
– IT lesson with practical use of Web 2.0 tools, Google Forms, Google Sheets,
– Biology lesson using an interactive board
– geography – using GPS during field lessons,
– Chemistry lesson in a laboratory in the training center in Szolnok.
– English language lesson with an integrated “smart classroom” software and tablets, screen mirroring
– Mathematics – interactive whiteboards, Flow! Works Pro and Geogebra program,
– Computer science – coding and editing websites.
We took part in an international webinar on Skype, using a leading WIX platform for creating websites run by Peter Baranik from Slovakia and a webinar on practical programming in Javascript run by Ahmet Dogan from Turkey.
The mobility in Poland was a conclusion of the two-year cooperation in the project, the results of which were presented on June 12, 2018 at the ICT Conference in Ekomarina in Giżycko with the participation of poviat and town authorities, headteachers and teachers from poviat and municipal schools, representatives of partner countries, students and parents. Special guests were: Patryk Matyjasek – Cloud Software Engineer from INTEL Poland with the presentation “Cloud in Education” and Simon May from Google Training, who conducted a practical training with Google applications. During a video session from Warsaw, the Director of Seiloc Enterprise Solutions, Barbara Wycisk presented a cross-section of cloud solutions for Google G. Suite and Acer for education.
Project work has contributed to improvements in the quality of teaching in partner schools. Participants motivation to work hard has increased. Students and parents got involved in the school work. Schools have gained the image of modern facilities, and the competitiveness of the institutions has grown. Methodological and technical school resources increased and students motivated each other to learn Science, improve English language and acquire ICT skills. Visiting ICT companies brought us closer to the nature of specific work in different countries and taught students responsibility and international cooperation. Participants’ self-confidence and self-presentation has increased and they engaged a lot in project activities.
