Project Summary

Vocational Education and Training (VET) is a strategic matter and EC gives significant importance to vocational education and its curriculum. Vocational Education systems have being shaped by European countries with the aims such as especially joining work life of qualified persons who are needed by labor market and decreasing unemployment. Several countries in Europe has identified approaches for VET in order to shape their own vocational education policy. However, even though EU countries are trying to adapt to common strategy, local factors may cause to stay out of determined standards. Level of industrialization and quality of workforce are not same throughout Europe. Standardization has been aimed by EQAVET programme, strategic partnerships through Erasmus + programme provides significant contributions to the EQAVET programme.

NecVET project consists 6 partner institutions from 5 participant countries which are Turkey, Italy, Greece, Spain and Poland and it has been developed for setting up a network between vocational education institutions and enterprises to bring together all local actors in each participant countries. Partnership covers different type of organization such as public VET institutions, Research institution, Private company, national confederation and local educational authority. Determination of expectations of labour market and possibilities of vocational education institutions were analized and prepared many specific reports for participant countries. By this way, objectives we planned are to strengthen connections between VET institutions and enterprises, to provide effective practice training possibilities for VET students and to educate these student to be more qualified and competitive. Many project activities have been carried out to reach these objectives in collaboration with partner institutions.
In principle, joining of all local and regional actors in the field of the adaptation of contents and curriculum of vocational education to labor market has internalized and aimed for 2020. On the other hand, to support EQAVET programme through setting up direct links with labor market and enterprises’ representatives that policy makers has not conferred with them on the matter sufficiently so far, preparing analysis and comparing its results with educational policies of VET institutions are focus point of NecVET project. Hence, partnership of NecVET project visited and/or invited private sectors in target countries to get local approaches and expectations. Some private sector representatives have been invited to join transnational project meeting carried out in a partner country and they shared their internship/employment policy, expectations from VET authorities, cooperation opportunities with VET institutions at local level etc. Beside, research studies and its reports, transnational project meetings and its overall reports, dissemination activities, composing scientific paper and its presentation in an international conference and developing visual dissemination tools are main activities of NecVET project.

Project idea was designed according to partners’ capabilities and qualifications. As a result of this, work programme has been defined to participant institutions depending on their specific features. Experiences and outputs have got open source essence for all European actors who is related with vocational education. NecVET project contains many outputs and they have been spread out to VET institutions at local and regional level via effective dissemination tools beside hard copy of them. All materials and reports developed through NecVET project can be seen on official project web site on www.necvet.eu and can be downloaded freely by VET actors in Europe. Project outputs developed through NecVET project will provide significant, sufficient and effective contributions to VET actors due to its unique and practical features. Especially analyzing VET systems in partner countries, comparing basic qualifications of some vocations in 10 sectors and determination of expectations of private sectors in target countries are precious studies of NecVET project. Partnership hopes that these studies will provide a new point of view for parties and decision makers related to VET in Europe in future.
