Project Summary
The NEW ECO-FRIENDLY FORMATS TO SHOW THE HISTORICAL, ARTISTIC AND NATURAL HERITAGE IN OUR ENVIRONMENT project stems from the disadvantage suffered by students from rural areas and some urban environments, who do not have the opportunity to travel, know the common points and values shared by European countries to form an idea of Europe.
The importance of environmental problems and the ecological footprint of tourism leads us to explore new ways, respectful with the environment, of knowing the historical, artistic and environmental heritage.
Three schools are involved in the project, the Szkoła Podstawowa im. Jana Pawła II w Grzędzice (Poland), the Konstantin Irechek High School in Sofia (Bulgaria), and the IES Catalina de Lancaster (Spain), which coordinates the project.
This Project aims to (1) beat the isolation of students from other countries and the idea of Europe; (2) improve the internationalization of our institutions, the level in foreign languages of teachers and students, participation in European citizenship; (3) extend the knowledge of the European historical, artistic and natural heritage to get closer to the reality and culture of other European countries, recognize our common values and build our idea of Europe; (4) work for methodological renewal and emotional learning to fight exclusion; (5) improve the methodologies used in the teaching-learning processes: work for interdisciplinary projects, reflect and share experiences, investigate the motivation of students; (6) adopt new tools and possibilities for classroom management through ICT to develop the digital competence of teachers and students, with special emphasis on reducing the digital gap of students with educational compensation needs; (7) improve the assessment of student knowledge and move towards constructive and competence assessment. Adopt methods such as coevaluation, evidence evaluation and digital tools. (8) improve the eco-friendly habits of our students and reduce the environmental impact of our institutions; (9) take advantage of the creative capacity of the students to respond to real needs; (10) know and draw conclusions about the importance of the dissemination of heritage in our country and other European countries; (11) know and draw conclusions about the environmental impact of tourism in our country and in other European countries; (12) develop healthy lifestyle habits, promoting active leisure; (13) spread European awareness to the educational community and its area of reference.
To reach these objectives the following activities will be developed:
Before the mobilities, students and teachers from each country will carry out two Projects:
(1) RESEARCH WORK ABOUT THE RELEVANCE OF HISTORIC, ARTISTIC AND NATURAL HERITAGE IN THE ECONOMY OF THE COUNTRY, ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS AND THE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT OF TURISM; and
(2) SHOWING OUR HISTORIC, ARTISTIC AND ENVIRONMENTAL HERITAGE IN AN ECO-FRIENDLY WAY.
– Konstantin Irechek Secondary School will take environmental care as a way of showing their country. They will work about global warming, climate change, the attention to local wildlife. They will introduce us to actions to keep the rivers clean, tackle the problem of plastic bottles and recycling materials.
– Grzedice Elementary School will deal with culture, nature and tradition to show their heritage. They will organize sessions of popular sports, traditions and local crafts.
– Secondary School Catalina de Lancaster will carry out a map to explore the region of La Campiña by bicycle and a QR code system with audio guides to visit the Romanesque cloister of the town.
Then, the mobilities will take place and the STUDY OF THE HISTORIC, ARTISTIC AND ENVIRONMENTAL HERITAGE OF THE COUNTRY PARTNERS will be developed.
After mobilities, students will write and share their CONCLUSIONS ON THE EUROPEAN HISTORIC, ARTISTIC AND NATURAL HERITAGE, ITS ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITIES AND THE ENVIRONMENTAL FOOTPRINT OF TOURISM and make proposals for some new perspectives for an eco-friendly touristic activity.
Before, during and after the mobilities we will perform several dissemination activities to make our Project known by our scholar community and the region, mainly through web pages and social networks and the local press.
After the Project, we will have established ties of friendship and international cooperation, we will have known the heritage of the partner countries and we will have shown them ours in an eco-friendly way; we will have shared methodological strategies to improve learning and developed together methods of co-evaluation and evaluation. We will have known the importance of the tourist activity in different countries of Europe and we will have learnt about the discourse on the environmental impact of tourism. We will have found an eco-friendly way to show our heritage; we have spread European heritage and values among the educational community and its reference area.
