Project Summary

The ‘New interpretetion of cultural heritage and city life’ project is the collaboration of a Hungarian, an Italian and a Portuguese institution. The partners will work together in this composition for the first time. The Hungarian and the Italian partners have known each other for a long time but they will acquainted with the Portuguese partner in this project. The Erasmus+ project is a new opportunity for the Portuguese school, which they have not tried before. The aim of the project is to make school and learning strategies closer to students, to show them that learning is a form which is not far from the world of the 21st century digital generation. Besides this, the project have set several smaller objectives which will prepare students for the challenges of the future, provide students and teachers with modern, up-to-date competences.
The topic of the project is cultural heritage and new forms of living in a city. Processing the topic will help us achieve our above mentioned goals. Cooperation between the institutions is planned for 22 months, work will be divided into 3 big phases. We have planned 3 short-term mobilities, 3 online meetings (skype meetings) and various extracurricular activities for students. Approximately 160 students, 20 teachers (teachers of different subjects and headmasters/headmistresses) will take part in the project, and families will play an important role in organizing the mobilities.
In the course of the activities, students will deal with the history of different towns and cities, their natural features, the concept of new forms of 21st century city life and the images attached to that, the concept of the city of the future, the concept of the smart city and the greatest challenges of our times: sustainability and environment protection. Besides presenting and discussing what we do during the mobilities, there will be mini training courses connected to the topic of the project. During the third mobility, a photo exhibition will be made.
The end-product of the project is an e-book, whose aim is to summarize the products and results that are achieved during the two school years by the partners. During the three phases of processing the topic each school will prepare suggestions for four guided tours including 5 stops. These guided tours are made by students, they will introduce the 3 cities from their points of view with the help of descriptions, videos, research results, photos and presentations. Besides the guided tours, the e-book will contain the rich collection of photos, drawings and paintings of the exhibitions, the accounts of the mobilities and the results of the learning process during the mobilities. The e-book will also feature the teachers’ reports, methodological experiences and pedagogical results. The topic and the goals of the project provide opportunities for the schools to gain experience in methodological renewal, for students new perspectives in learning, getting to know the world and the challenges that surround them. Throughout the whole duration of the project, partners will operate an evaluation system, which will ensure that the learning results and goals are achieved.
