Project Summary
The economic and social crisis that Europe faced after Covid-19 severely hit the labour market and unemployment rates are increasing.
In this scenario, the aim of EU is to ensure that the right to training and lifelong learning, becomes a reality all across Europe, from cities to remote and rural areas, to the benefit of everyone. The Commission is placing skills at the heart of the EU policy agenda, steering investment in people and their skills for a sustainable recovery after the coronavirus pandemic.
Unemployment is particularly high among women and young people and this situation is exacerbated among disabled women who face a double discrimination: as women and as disabled people. In addition, these women are more vulnerable because of issues related to health-work balance, limited availability for training and access to resources, accessibility barriers, mental or psychological problems among others.
Through the project, to offer new opportunities and innovative instruments to physical and sensory disabled women for improving their qualifications and thus their levels of employability. Thanks to an European cooperation established by an appropriate mix of complementary organisations coming from different fields but sharing characteristics and objectives, this instrument introduces new methodologies and tools to make easier the training access, assessment and development of competences and their transference to the labour context.
So, the general objective of READY WOMEN project is to offer new opportunities and innovative instruments to adult women with disabilities for improving their qualifications and thus their levels of employability and integration into the labour market, mainly through training actions related to the New Yields of Employment (NYE) and emerging sectors.
This innovative training program for social inclusion of disabled women through access to new yields of employment met the following specific objectives:
Develop a qualitative study on relations between disabled women (mainly physical, organic and sensory disabilities) and employment opportunities on the NYE and the emerging sectors in each of the European regions covered by the project.
Design of contents for implementation of a transnational training course aimed to staff partners on how to teach and train on basic & professional competences and soft skills for women with physical and sensory disabilities.
Development of educational content and subsequent implementation of a specific training course in basic & professional competences and soft skills aimed to facilitate the access to employment in NYE for disabled women, as well as training the use of ITCs.
Development of Virtual Community of European women with disabilities and training for employment in NYE, putting them in contact each other and with other disabled women already employed, in order to share experiences, knowledge, training, etc. It will be also uploaded to the site the educational content developed for wide spreading.
Pilot implementation of accompanying process to access to employment for participant disabled women
Disseminate results, training programme and tools created at national and transnational levels.
Establish an evaluation Plan, report and improvement recommendation to implement the designed training programme
READY WOMEN project, was implemented by an association of 10 organisations from 7 countries (Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Portugal, Spain and Turkey).
In general, the target participants of the project were women with fewer opportunities because their disability and low qualification. Specifically, READY WOMEN Project piloted its training program with two main target group: with women with physical and sensory disabilities but also with other associated disabilities (intellectual, mental…).
