Project Summary
Our project focuses both on students and teachers. The main goal of the project is to increase the awareness of cultural diversity, to enhance the level of understanding and tolerance in our comtemporary Europe.Through the different activities, we hope to overcome stereotypes,to improve communication with each whatever the cultural divisions ,to increase acceptance of the others not to repeat the mistakes of the past. The project also aims at improving the students language, ICT and entrepreneurial skills. As for the teachers the project will offer them an opportunity to develop their teaching and training ressources for a good practice in different educational contexts and situations and in various languages.
These objectives cannot be achieved without exchanging therefore the transnational cooperation is inevitable. Five schools will take part in the project: France as the coordinating school,Croatia,Romania and Turkey. All the partner schools have some experiences in developing projects and the teachers have all the skills necessary to run successfully the project. As for the project’s stakeholders they will not only be the students and teachers of the partner schools but also the students’ families, schools’ local communities, local authorities and institutions.Four student exchanges consisting of transnational meetings and Learning/Teaching/training activities have been planned. They will be held during the two-year-project. The transnational meetings will be attended by teachers and selected students, they will have a theoretical aspect since the participants will discuss the key issues of the project and work out the outcomes. The transnational meetings will also have other goals since the participants will be assigned the tasks, monitored and will evaluate the activities of the project anticipating potentiel problems and solving them. The Learning/Teaching/Training Activities will be of practical kind, the students will learn about the culture and history of their country and the one of their partners, they will improve the English language, ICT and entrepreneurial skills and acquire basic knowledge of the languages of the partner countries. During the whole project the teachers, students and other stakeholders will communicate by the use of e-mails,E-twinning and social networks. All along its life the project will be monitored through questionnaires and other evaluation tools so that any necessary adjustements can be ontroduced. The evaluation of the project will be done using tools such as questionnaires, testing of the final outputs to have current feedback and to measure the quality of the activities and final outputs.
Students will acquire the target knowledge and skills by taking part in a wide range of activities. These activities will include: classes, lectures, discussions, workshops, artistic performances, poem contests, sports competitions, games and quizzes, city games, trips. The students will act as expert “ performers” while they will prepare the different kinds of programmes but also when they present reports, interview and film the different witnesses, etc. The students will also investigate their own history, tradition and culture and the one of the partner schools’ countries so that they could become more aware of cultural diversity and its impact on mutual understanding in contemporary Europe.
The expected results are as follow according to the activities’ areas carried out in the project. There will be both tangible and intangible results.
The tangible products are: 1) the final outputs that might be useful to other schools and other people in Europe since they might continue them adding new materials to make it a lifelong learning project 2)a website containing all the activities and outputs of the project; the site will include a detailed analysis on how to develop the project itself beyond the end of the funding period
The intangible results will be:1)to develop awareness of cultural diversity in Europe and increase the level of tolerance 2)to improve key competences 3)the establishment of positive and constructive relationships among the schools and also between the schools and the local authorities and institutions, the students’ families and between the students themselves 4)teachers improve their professional competence thanks to new tools, skills and innovative working methods and exchanging of good practices
All the partner schools will focus on understanding one another across and beyond all cultural barriers as it is a fundamental prerequisite to make our diverse democratic societies work together. The idea and the objectives of the project are really important for the participating schools, and we are convinced the expected outcomes can only be achieved through a transnational dimension of our cooperation.
