Project Summary
The capacity building project “NEXT GENERATION – Innovative resources and tools for children and young people with fewer opportunities” aims to strengthen the cooperation and the exchange of good practices and competences between EU (Hungary, Czech Republic and Italy), Latin America (Nicaragua, Uruguay and Argentina) and Asia (India) in the work for inclusion of minors, adolescents and young people coming from difficult social, economical and family backgrounds.
Non-formal learning, experiential learning and learning by doing has been the main methodologies used. Reciprocal approach between coordinating, sending and hosting organisations, youth workers, EVS volunteers, children, young people and external stakeholders has been the basis for activities preparation, implementation and long-term sharing of good inclusion practices and techniques.
An online web-based platform called NEXT GENERATION has been the main sharing tool: users uploaded resources, methods and good practices (pictures, texts and audio-video contents), available for free downloading and easy feedback during the project and beyond its lifetime.
Youth workers and EVS volunteers learned how to plan and implement new and innovative trainings, relational support meetings, workshops and leisure time activities for disadvantaged children, adolescents and young people. Therefore, this capacity building project developed youth workers’ and EVS volunteers’ set of technical, transversal and intercultural skills and competences which may also open new job opportunities and improve their employability in the social work field at a local, national and international level. Creativity, entrepreneurship, teamwork and sense of initiative has been continuously developed thus promoting a real and deep personal and professional growth of youth workers and volunteers. Tools and resources about ICT in education and volunteers’ and youth workers’ preparation and training were provided.
The mobility included 13 young EVS volunteers (8 Italians, 1 Czech, 1 Hungarian, 2 Indians, 1 Argentinian and 1 Uruguayan) – some of them with fewer opportunities), who lived a 9-month experience abroad during which they acquired and shared both theoretical and practical new skills in this field. CSD – Diaconia Valdese, as coordinating organisation, assured the correct progress of the work and of the intercultural experience.
