Project Summary

The need for increasing HE student mobility in Europe is a long-standing political priority and the European Higher Education Area is built on structures and tools that aim to foster successful cross-border cooperation, including mobility. Moreover, to encourage training with the support of digital technologies is an aim of the European Higher Education System.

The ErasmusX project offers first, a catalogue of online courses available on a transnational web platform developed by this project, courses for incoming and outgoing Erasmus Students of the project partner universities; and second, a common and innovative system of certification and recognition of these courses. The central platform of the project will use up to three different well-known e-learning platforms (Moodle, Blackboard and Federica).
The aims of this project are:
1- To encourage European student mobility and training by offering a set of online courses easy to be followed with independence of the location, time availability, gender and dis(abilities) of the students.
2- To improve the digital education skills and the transnational cooperation of the professors and universities involved in the project, creating teams of teachers interested in the development of e-modules that will cooperate intensively.
3- To develop an innovative transnational common system of online Higher Education registration, certification and recognition.

Both students and universities will be the main beneficiaries of the project. The former having bigger possibilities to go abroad for studying and doing other activities during the mobility, such as internships in private companies, with independence of their personal situation, preferences and location. The latter for the development of e-learning digital structures and the intensification of transnational cooperation.

The project will be implemented by 5 partners: University of Acalá (Spain), coordinator of the project, EUF (European University Foundation), University of Latvia (Latvia), University of Naples Federico II (Italy) and Lodz University of Technology (Poland).
In the long term other HEIs will join the common online Educational System implemented by this project: more courses will be created and offered, and a bigger number of universities and students will benefit from it. Then this project will accelerate the emergence of an European Higher Education Area where mobility becomes the rule, rather than the exception, hence contributing to the ET2020 framework
