Project Summary
In 2020 COVID crisis is allowing us to become aware of the different global challenges that, as a society and as humanity, we have yet to address. Environmental, social and personal challenges on a global scale that also affect our local communities. Challenges that invite us to think big from “outside the box” with new perspectives necessary to let arrive, with the least possible trauma, the future that is emerging.
In this process, creativity and Youth should be the compass and the explorer that will show us the way. However, our societies are not paying the necessary attention neither to young people, nor to creative processes. They are not encouraging them to occupy the leading place that would benefit us all.
In a moment of letting go of what does not work and building the new, it is the creativity sector (in all its areas) that has the most to contribute. When it comes to dreaming and prototyping this future that is arriving and it is not yet the Youth is key. This young generation is also the one that has the longest time to live in the new world that is being born now, therefore they are also the most interested in being part of the vanguard of people who are dreaming and prototyping now this emerging future.
The Open Field project. European Network of Young Creators comes to claim creative spaces as Citizen Rights; Youth as an engine for positive transformation in our communities; creation as part of the priority vital activities that allow us to look at reality with a broad perspective, to find the solutions that, as a society and as humanity, we are looking for now, at the beginning of the XXI Century.
The proposal is presented by three European organizations, experts in Youth Work and Management of Creative Projects for Social Transformation. From commuting areas of very important European cities (London, Milan-Torino and Madrid-Toledo), they propose young creators from these territories as the main target audience for the project’s actions; and these peripheral communities, often not taken into account, as direct beneficiaries of the project’s impacts.
THE UBELE INITIATIVE, PROYECTO KIEU AND ASSOCIAZIONE CULTURALE EUFEMIA join a common strategy to enhance creativity in the youth field and promote in their communities both social inclusion and the development of skills through creativity and the arts. Thanks to local and international training, at the end of the project from 90 to 180 young people will be much more competent to find or create jobs around creativity. Music, writing, crafts, plastic arts … All these expressions are necessary to value of creativity, art and culture as fields of knowledge and innovation necessary for the positive transformation of our communities.
The project also has 4 intellectual results (paper and on-line maps) that will make available to the community the diversity of creative resources existing in the participating territories; these intellectual results, which will be presented in 3 Multiplier Events (one per country), will also allow the creation of synergies and alliances both between the young creators of the three countries, as well as with their reference communities. These connection will make possible that key people in the comunity, such as journalists, political leaders, business-people and community leaders multiply the results of the project.
Through the committed and constant work of the partner organizations in their communities, the impact of the project activities is expected to be extended beyond its time frame. Promoting, in the long run, a culture of cooperation and associationism that allows us to transcend the contemporary culture of individualism and the disconnection of people with the environment, other people and even with themselves.
