Project Summary
The industrial revolution triggered many severe environmental problems by putting our tomorrows at risk. These obvious threats have been forcing mankind to react in order to protect the environment and to ensure its sustainability. We must stop extinguishing the world with our ruthless acts and admit that human is not the master of nature but a part of it.
In 1987,UN World Commission on Environment and Development published ‘OUR COMMON FUTURE’ also known as ‘Brundtland Report’,which has been the milestone for ‘Sustainable Development’ as understood today. It has also been the main inspiration for this project by naming after it.“Sustainable development” was defined as “development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs” by this commission.Since the late 20th century, environmental problems have been remained on the agenda of UN(Sustainable Development Goals-SDG 2030 agenda, Paris Agreement) and EU (2020 Climate and Energy Package;2030 Climate and Energy Frame Work;2050 Long Term Low-Carbon Economy Strategy;2050 The European Green Deal Strategy) with the understanding of ‘There is no other world.’ Similarly, our motto is ‘It is our COMMON problem of our COMMON world threatening OUR COMMON FUTURE.’It is time to take action and responsibility locally and globally.“The greatest threat to our planet is the belief that someone else will save it”(R.Swan).As teachers, this is our responsibility to raise awareness on pupils to achieve the common good. From this view, the concept of sustainability in this project is considered as a philosophy of life, teaching pupils to see themselves as an integral part of the ecosystem, to reduce consumerism,to live life simpler and in harmony with nature, to gain EU citizenship values and create a sense of universal responsibility.
We aim to merge the principles and practices of sustainable development into all aspects of education and learning, and support the behavioral changes within the scope of active learning process-in the frame of ‘HANDS-ON activities.’ As a result of Innovative learning and constructive approach, the pupils will have the opportunity to learn by doing and living. We aim to contribute to the achievement of the UN 2030 agenda-SDG, which will also carry us to EU Green Deal Strategy for 2050 as much as one can.We want to ensure a better and more sustainable future for all.
The project will be implemented by five schools from Turkey, Greece, Hungary, Romania, and France with 5 LTTA(short term exchange of pupils) and many local activities. E-twinning will be the virtual field of the project. For the 5 LTTA,we plan to involve totally 92 pupils(considering gender equality)and 40 accompanying teachers from all sending schools. As for the local activities, we will include the other school staff, pupils, parents and local authorities(multiplier effect).
Through this project,we will address the concept of ‘Sustainable Environment’ under the titles of
Good Agricultural Practices (LTTA 1)
Correct Chemical Use (LTTA 2)
Renewable Energy;Energy Efficiency and Saving (LTTA 3)
3Rs:Recycling,Reducing,Reusing (LTTA 4)
Ecological Literacy-Water Literacy, Sustainable use of natural resources(LTTA 5)
Local activities:
*Organizing seminars, arranging field trips on project subject

Whether local activities of each partner school or the joint LTTA with the partner schools, each of them has been specifically designed and elaborated in accordance with our concerns and its content has been filled in to achieve the project objectives.
Pupils of EFY Club, aged 13-16,will actively take part in the both local & LTTA and indoor & outdoor project activities that will be carried out with the support and guidance of the teachers.By collaborating and communicating with their European peers, pupils will develop basic skills and key competences as well as learning about the environmental problems, gaining awareness, sensitivity, positive and realistic attitudes towards it and its sustainability by creating a change of behavior in this regard
Staff will also share good practice; build professional links with European colleagues;develop innovative teaching methods generated by mutual exchange of knowledge or expertise;enrich professional profiles and competencies.
Green jobs Dictionary,Digital Europe map of endemic plant species, Environmental word Game, Cloth shopping bags and Sprout pencils, Project song, photo album,you-tube video are among the outputs.
