Project Summary
We are living in the era of climatic changes, constantly worsening quality of the air, still unsolved issue of wastes recycling, but also a consumerist attitude to the surrounding reality. This in turn contributes to social exclusion of the people with low incomes, most frequently immigrants or the disabled.
The project entitled “Our life in our hands” is to make young people aware of the fact that their attitude influences the quality of life of future generations. We want to rely on the youth while making changes for the better. We would also like to familiarise them with credible results of tests over the condition of the environment and encourage them to come to their own conclusions. We need to teach them rational, thrifty life, which shall increase the chances of the success of social groups endangered by exclusion, based on old, verified methods of our grandparents’ generation , cultural traditions of each partner country. It is our task to show them how to deal with difficulties thanks to the wisdom of previous generations, help others (voluntary service), remake old stuff and step back from consumerism in favour of more valuable aims.Simultaneously we shall motivate our students to take active part in sharing the knowledge they have gained with their friends, peers and family and to enthuse others with the conviction of the need to have conscious, ecological and rational lifestyle. This can be done with the use of artistic forms, such as a logo competition, a spot-a film, theatre, posters, but also modern technologies and the media (blog with advice, video conference,FB, Instagram, eTwinning). However,it is also important to promote the idea of the project within the local community (debate, festival).
We are going to achieve our aims due to the partnership of schools from:Poland,Romania,Greece,Italy,Macedonia. We are planning to hold a five-day training for teachers in Poland (on physical and mental health with the use of theatrical methods and to prepare teacher’s staff for project tasks); there are also going to be held four five-day student exchanges:in Romania(gaining knowledge on resources, raw materials and the condition of the environment); in Greece (making a performance on the project issue);in Italy (methods, techniques, tools of digital creation of project products);in North Macedonia (project results summary).Owing to the above mentioned actions, young people (students of high schools and a special school) shall become more open to the world and other people and will develop cross-cultural, social competences.Their ICT skills will also improve. All the activities planned within the project shall be held in the vein of brotherhood, help and understanding, support on the school, regional and international level. They will be held in the form of:artistic workshops, games, plays, classes with professionals,a festival, outdoor activities, conferences, competitions, discussions with the use of activating and IT techniques and practical measures. The major assumption of trainings for young people shall be cooperation, learning by cooperation, tasks assignment for all participants in accordance with their needs and abilities (e.g. for disabled and SEN teenagers),interactions, relations creation, starting common initiatives. We want the participants of our actions- both direct (teachers, employees, students aged 14-24 including those intellectually impaired) and indirect (all teachers and students of partner schools, parents, families and communities of local schools, people invited to a festival, debates, teachers and headmasters of regional schools, participants of a conference, experts, members of associations, foundations and ecological organizations, local authorities, the media-to feel responsible for the fortune of future generations and the condition of our environment.
We are planning video conferences for teachers to define the needs and resources,to detail the schedule,to evaluate actions, but also video conferences for students to share experiences and inspirations to take actions (ideas exchange).
Due to our partner cooperation a lot of didactic materials shall be made up: scripts, work plans, handouts, film spots, but also an advice blog on how to have a thrifty and interesting lifestyle- in English and they shall be accessible on FB,but also on Internet sites of partner schools,on eTwinning site and on results popularizing platform. What is more, our products shall comprise:project logo, promotional materials (leaflets, invitations, posters), presentations of particular actions, participation certificates and Europass.
We hope to engraft the desire for a better and cleaner world, life in harmony with nature and other people in our project participants, but also promoting the idea of the project within their local communities and passing it down from generation to generation. That may be possible among others thanks to the materials and products created by us,which EU citizen can make use of in future years.
