Project Summary

The project has been run in parallel in Italy and Finland. In a first period, teachers have exchanged introducing videos to get to know their direct partners and also the group. These videos have helped teachers to understand the context of the partner school, and to arrange a work to be runned in parallel about storytelling by using different multiliteracy skills. Then Italian teachers have left for Finland, and the teachers of the two schools have net for the first time. Teacher have made job shadowing and they have exchanged good practices about working using methods with the students that promote inclusion. The theme of the stories have been various: in Finland pupils have worked on the theme of health and well being, according to Finnish new curriculum. The methods used in creating the stories have been such that students regardless of gender, language, disabilities and such, have been able to take part in, and learn from, the class projects. During the second teachers mobility, Finnish teachers have practised job shadowing in Italy, and the theme has been the Inclusion in the Italian school, according to the law n. 104. According to this law, every pupil, even if suffering from a serious handicap, has the right to stay in the school with his peers, and there are no special schools dedicated to people with disabilities. Obviously there is a special schedule for these students and an adequately trained support teacher, in some cases children with mild disabilities follow the class schedule, even if simplified.
