Project Summary
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
In the applied ERASMUS+ project “ My digital life” two schools in Germany and France are working together for two years dealing with the possibilities and problems of using digital media. The project will work on two levels: the teachers’ and the students’ level. Both groups of the two schools will increase their competences about digital media, language learning and intercultural learning.
During the project, all teachers/pedagogical staff, students and parents of the two schools can be involved. The main part of the project work will concern students from 15 to 17 years (grade 9 and 10 in Büren, grade seconde and première in Clermont-Ferrand). Together with their project-tutors a group of ca. 20 young german and ca. 20 french students will travel to the partnerschool and take part in the transnational learning, teaching or training activities in Büren (2021) and Clermont-Ferrand (2022).
In the first project year 2020-2021 students and teachers are going to introduce themselves, their schools and their region by using digital media and digital tools (e.g. eTwinning as working platform, explainity videos, QR-Codes for scavenger hunt in the two towns, VR glasses to visit the schools within a digital 3D-visit, digital questionnaires based on the application “mentimeter” for interviews about students’ school-life and leisure activities). We intend to help students and teachers to swap and change their roles as “learners” and “teachers” in order to take profit of the students’ knowledge as “digital natives”. We want them to take an actif role in the project and bring in their competences.
In the second project year 2021-2022 we will focus on the role of digital media in every day life and in the future. We will create a digital personality test asking for the individual way of using digital and social media to define types of users and to explain chances and risks. After this first step we will create challenges and tasks for the french-german project-group (e.g.: one day without your moblile, one day’s diary: my mobile and me, saving or wasting energy with digital media, “I am perfect”: using makeup and photoshop to create a digital ME, creating a video game with “scratch” , vocational learning: discover and present new careers in “digital” professions, new sport dimension: e-sports ). The results of these different tasks will flow into a sort of “SOCIAL MEDIA GUIDE” that can be used by students, teachers and parents to find their own way of using media to their own and to others benefit.
The tasks and the challenges of the first and second year will be published on eTwinning which is used as our common platform for working, evaluation and presentation. They are prepared in the two schools during normal lessons and in workshops along the two schoolyears. Through eTwinning, the students are invited to work in little working groups on the subject(s) they prefere. Some local results/products of Büren and of Clermont-Ferrand will be published there so that students can react and comment directly to them. Some other parts of the project work will be presented and used during the project meetings of students (e.g. QR-Code-based scavanger-hunting, workshop “I am perfect”, Scratch –video-game, personality-test, …).
The students’ meetings in Büren (C1 2021) and in Clermont-Ferrand (C2 2022) will be focused on common activities in binational mini-groups. Together, they have to manage tasks about ice-breaking, sports, visiting the schools, the town and region, digital challenges and moments of intercultural learning.
The teachers meet in the beginning of each schoolyear (10/2020 and 10/2021) to plan and evaluate the organisation and management of the project. In addition, we will exchange our local school practice and concepts of using media and dealing with media-education through presentations during these teachers’ meetings. We will collect and publish these presentations in a digital leaflet in our eTwinnig twinspace and we will link these results to the homepages of our schools. In this way we want to insure the exchange of examples of good practice for the whole school comunnity in Büren and Clermont-Ferrand and for everybody who might be interested.
