Project Summary

“Physical Theatre for Youth” is an intercontinental initiative in Capacity Building Programme of Erasmus + between 3 countries from Europe (represented by Stowarzyszenie Pozytywnych Zmian, DATS – landsforeningen for dramatisk virksomhed, Plateforme de la jeune création franco-allemande), and 3 countries from South America, (CASA MITOMANA INVERNADERO CULTURAL, Asociación Cultural Casa del Silencio Maison du Silence and High on Life Chile). The main objective of our Capacity Building project is to enable the development of artistic education of youth through support the cooperation between Theatre Centres for Youth between Poland, Denmark, France, Ecuador, Colombia and Chile for developing education and awareness in the area of physical theatre and fostering entrepreneurship among young practitioners in this field increasing their international opportunities and boosting their competencies. In contrast to most commercial and subsidized mainstream theatre the physical theatre centres lack subventions all over the world. We want to build a sustainable partnership between Youth centres caring about physical theatre and social aspect of drama. Our partnership aims at supporting non-formal mobility for youth workers and for youth from outlying countries. The project responds to the needs of young people who want to undertake intercontinental projects with youth from different regions of the world and pursue artistic research in physical theatre in order to promote transnational non-formal learning mobility between Programme and Partner Countries. The idea is to include young people with fewer opportunities, with a view to improving participants’ level of competences and fostering their active participation in society. Physical theatre education in all partners countries is extremely scant and this phenomenon is global. We will create and perform an international performance using different approaches from physical theatre. Our main innovative way will be mixing the power of mythology with the cultural heritage of human body. The human body is essential to human myth and storytelling, as it is the original source of sensation and apprehension that gives rise to all questions and all attempts to answer them. Theatre and theatre education are extremely dynamic fields of art. The approaches and trends that are crucial for today’s theatre in a decade’s time may turn out to be incomprehensible and simply irrelevant. We will build and share steps of creation of the physical theatre script for education purposes and an international e-platform of audio-visual exercises translated into several languages. Through the platform we will share a diverse choice of existing theatre workshops around Europe, which youth will use in different theatre centers to foster shows based on myths touching touching social problems. Our long-term effect of the project will be shared among the networks of theatre centers in Europe and in South America.
